Last-minute Valentine's Day gift ideas
As mentioned above, many of the retailers above offer same-day, one-day or two-day delivery options depending on your location. So, unless you're reading this on Valentine's Day itself, there's still time to snag yourself one of the top gift ideas in this guide from Amazon, JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys.
Of course, if you have left your gift-buying until the very last minute, there's still plenty of options to choose from that your loved one will love. And, if all else fails, popping into the supermarket for some chocolate, flowers and a cute little message in a card will save you. Try out our ideas below first, though.
Amazon Gift Card
Why you can trust TechRadar
Not every gift has to have hours of thought put behind them. It's a nice sentiment, but sometimes the best gift you can give someone is some spare change they can use to get themselves something they really want.
If you're unsure what your special person really wants, or you think they'd rather just shop for themselves, there's no shame in grabbing an Amazon gift card on the way to Valentine's dinner. Trust us, whether you hand it to them in a delicately designed card, or just get an e-gift card emailed directly to them, once they log on and have the freedom to buy whatever they want on Amazon, they'll be glad you left it to the last minute.
Still early days in the relationship? Get some flowers to go with the card. Trust us.
Audible
If you're shopping for a book or podcast lover, an Audible subscription might be the best Valentine's Day gift idea, whether it's bought at the last second or not. Whether they're listening to the latest and greatest books available while they work, exercise or lie in bed, 'reading' has never been easier than with Audible.
For just AU$16.45 per month or AU$164.50 annually (just under a AU$33 saving), the recipient will have access to thousands of podcasts and audiobooks, plus they receive a monthly credit that allows them to buy any book of their choice – remaining in their library even once the subscription expires. The AU$27.45p/m and AU$274.60p/a tier provides two credits each month. You can even try it out with a 30-day free trial. For an avid reader who struggles to find the time to actually sit down with a book, Audible is the perfect Valentine's Day gift.
Groupon
Everyone likes a few new candles, a pair of headphones or some fresh clothes, but sometimes the best Valentine's Day gift idea is just thinking of an activity to do together. Hopefully you've already sorted out dinner for Valentine's Day, but if you haven't, Groupon has an you covered to make up for it.
Groupon know's it makes a great Valentine's Day gift, too – which is why it's offering 20% off right now. Whether you're buying a gift card so your partner can choose the perfect experience, snagging a highly-rated 3-course meal at a French restaurant or indulging in a full-body couple's massage, Groupon has something for everyone.
Kindle Unlimited
This gift idea is easier to recommend if you're buying (or already own) one of our best ereaders. However, as long as the person you're shopping for has a phone or tablet to read on, Kindle Unlimited is a fantastic gift idea for Valentine's Day 2025.
This subscription service provides users with unlimited access to millions of titles, as well as thousands of audiobooks for just AU$13.99 per month. Unlike Audible, it allows subscribers to both actually read ebooks and listen to audiobooks. However, there is no credit system that allows your wife to 'buy' a book she wants.
Once the subscription ends, they will lose access to their collection. Still, while the subscription is active the value for an avid reader is undeniable. Just don't let them get stuck with 10 pages left when their subscription runs out!
Streaming service subscription
It might not seem like the most romantic gift in the world – "Here you go Darlin, I bought you a Netflix subscription" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it as some other gifts in this guide. Don't get it twisted though, the best streaming services in Australia offer some truly incredible content, with Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, Netflix and Prime Video all offering incredible new shows and movies in 2024. 2025 has started off with a bang, too.
If you're only going to go with one, though – our pick is Binge. Your partner will be able to enjoy the entire range of HBO shows – like The Last of Us, Band of Brothers, Succession, The White Lotus, The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm – as well as more of the best TV shows on Binge like Colin From Accounts. Not only that, Binge also holds all the reality TV you could ever want, including The Kardashians, Real Housewives, Fboy Island, Vanderpump Rules and The Great British Bake Off. It even has sports matches these days thanks to Kayo Sports integration.
Disney Plus, Netflix, Apple TV Plus and Prime Video are all worthy buys, though. You can check out more info on the best streaming services in Australia to see which one is the one for your partner.
Hello Fresh
Whether you live with your partner or not, there's few better gifts you could provide than taking away the constant thought of "what's for dinner tonight". With HelloFresh, the hard part – thinking of what to make – is taken care of, along with all the ingredients needed. All wifey has to do is follow the recipe and cook it. Better yet, you can cook it for her.
Our pals over at Tom's Guide loved their time with HelloFresh, applauding its simple delivery system and weekly menu that accounts for various dietary goals and needs. While they found the recipe time estimates weren't always accurate, prep time mostly comes down to cooking skill and experience.
Offering meal plans of up to five meals per week for two to six people, how often you use it is up to the user – it could make one week of cooking super easy, or they could replace Friday night takeaway with an easy, healthy alternative. All told, HelloFresh can help save your special person time shopping at the supermarket and thinking of recipes, and can be a more affordable and healthier option than your typical takeaway.
Readly
Go old school this Valentine's Day. With Readly, there's a magazine subscription made for your loved one, no matter what they're into. With more than 7,000 titles across 15 languages and almost 30 countries, Readly's library of mags covers sports, fashion, technology, business, entertainment and everything in-between.
First, and most importantly is our very own APC Magazine and T3 Australia. It might not be known for its romance, but T3 provides coverage of the latest tech, fresh reviews and in-depth features to help you live smarter, while APC Magazine is the world's longest-published tech mag – exploring and explaining tech a little differently to anyone else. There's also GQ, Time, Forbes, Billboard, Men's Health and thousands more to choose from. The best part is, with Readly, you don't have to choose. AU$14.99 each month gets you complete access to Readly's entire library of magazines. You can also purchase a gift card for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription.

Lego flowers
Love the idea of giving your significant other a bunch of flowers for Valentine’s Day? Well, what about a bouquet that will never wilt? Lego actually has a Bouquet of Roses set, which is obviously perfect for Valentine's Day – though we recommend pairing it with a real bouquet – but there's a tonne of options when it comes to Lego flowers.
From pink flower bouquets to Chrysanthemum, orchids, cherry blossoms and tiny pot plants, there's everything you need to make a Lego lovers Valentine's Day special.
Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max
Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K can turn your old TV without any smarts into a hub for Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime Video, YouTube and all the best streaming services. Even if your partner does have a smart TV, the interface and user experience of the Fire TV Stick is preferable over many TV operating systems. It works simply by plugging into your TV’s HDMI port, and all you need to do is connect it to Wi-Fi to get it up and running. Plus, if you're travelling it makes watching your favourite content easy when watching TVs away from home.

Video games
Whether you're looking for a Valentine's Day gift for him or her, if your partner is a gamer, grabbing them a new game is a sure-fire way to show your love for them. Of course, which game you buy will depend on your partner, what games they like and what they play on. However, here are a few recommendations for men and women. If none of the options below are for you, check out the best PS5 games, best Switch games, best Xbox games and best PC games.
- Astro Bot (PS5)
- Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Switch)
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Switch)
- Tekken 8 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
- Metaphor: ReFantazio (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, PS5)
Sony WF-C510 earbuds
While the Sony WH-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM4 headphones and earbuds steal the spotlight, these earbuds are our pick if you're looking for quality on a budget – and they make the perfect gift for any partner.
We love the JLAB Go Air Pop, and at just AU$49.95, they offer insane value. If you can stretch your budget up to AU$100 though, we think these Sony buds are unmatched. The best budget earbuds money can buy, in our 4.5-star Sony WF-C510 review, we said they offer punchy, high-quality audio, are light and comfortably anchor to your ears and their charging case is slender and easily-totable. For just AU$99.95, there's not much more you could want. Oh, and they come in an array of colours that are perfect for him or her.

Smart speaker
The best smart speakers offer the benefits of the best Bluetooth speakers, with added smart features that make them perfect for listening to music at home and a whole bunch more. Plus, you don't have to shell out AU$350 to buy the latest and greatest from Bose or Apple to get a good piece of tech.
You can spend a little more to get the display-boasting Amazon Echo Spot, or the Apple HomePod Mini if the person you're buying for is an Apple Music subscriber. However, if AU$100 is about what you want to spend, and you're looking for a quality speaker with some added smart features, the Amazon Echo Dot is what you're after. Working off a successful formula, the latest generation model adds temperature sensor, a tap function and improved sound, plus it comes in black, white or navy.

Apple TV 4K
If you're shopping for a movie and TV lover, the Apple TV 4K is the perfect gift, whether they use an iPhone or not. While there are a few integration benefits that Apple users will get – like quick log-ins via iPhone – the Apple TV 4K is far and away the best streaming device on the market.
Offering 4K streaming, the best user interface of any streaming device, seamless Siri integration for voice searches and a snappy, durable remote, the best streaming services have never looked so good – or been easier to watch – than with the Apple TV 4K. The only real drawback we have on it in our Apple TV 4K (2022) review is that it's pricey. While we think it's well worth it, Google's TV Streamer is Google's AU$159 competitor, and the Fire TV Cube and Fire TV Sticks 4K are both considerably cheaper and still excellent devices.

Air fryer
Air fryers have been around for a while. Philips actually released the first air fryer back in 2010, but it wasn't until the COVID-19 pandemic that the compact cookers really took off – and they're still heavily sought after, making the perfect gift to any kitchen for Valentine's Day. What better way to finish off a romantic evening than with a glass of wine and crispy, fresh, home-made chips?
There's an abundance of options to choose from, and you can check out our full guide to the best air fryer for a deeper dive. However, we recommend grabbing the Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 with ClearCook, Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Dual Air Fryer and Instant Vortex Plus ClearCook Dual Air Fryer 8L. Or, if you're looking for a smaller machine, or if you're shopping for an individual, couple or small family of three, the Breville the Air Fryer Chef Plus.
Philips Hue Iris special edition
The Philips Hue Iris is a gorgeous new take on a table lamp with smart light capabilities. It can emit everything from bright white light to a soft yellow glow, or you can get a little more adventurous by creating a vibrant splash of colour in the room. It’s all controlled through the Philips Hue app, giving you a unique table lamp that you can use to set any mood at home.
Whether you’re planning a cosy night of Netflix or a romantic dinner for two, this lamp is a wonderful addition.
Breville The InFizz Fusion
This appliance is a little more outside the box compared to an air fryer or blender, but if your person loves soft drinks, carbonated cocktails or soda water, then there is no better Valentine's Day gift idea.
We don't hand out five-star reviews easily. Usually there's at least three drawbacks on an exceptional machine that means it falls to 4.5 stars, but the same cannot be said for our Breville the InFizz Fusion review. What differentiates the Infizz Fusion from similar products is that it carbonates any cold beverage. From water to flat sodas and wine to tea – if it's cold, the Infizz Fusion can carbonate it. Now go spice up date night with some fancy homemade cocktails this Valentine's Day.
eReader
An ereader is a book lover's dream. Even if it doesn't quite match the feeling of reading a physical book, the ease of use, cheaper book prices and portability makes it a must-have, and an excellent gift this Valentine's Day.
We think the Kobo Libra Colour is the best ereader on the market, but at this price, we recommend the Kobo Clara BW (though kobo Clara Colour is excellent if your beloved is often reading comics). The best budget ereader, we absolutely loved the Clara BW thanks to its waterproof, lightweight and compact design, and excellent 6-inch screen. However, if you'd rather stick to Kindle, we also love the AU$299 Kindle Paperwhite (2024) that offers a snappy 7-inch display, lightweight and waterproof build and improved performance over its predecessor.
Ninja Creami NC300
Many members of the Aussie TechRadar team applaud the Ninja Creami as one of the best appliances they have ever purchased, and while Valentine's Day might land towards the end of summer, it's still a stupendous gift idea for your loved one.
Don't worry, while it's a perfect gift for an ice-cream and smoothie bowl lover, the Ninja Creami isn't here to ruin your diet. In fact, the reason I love it is not because it makes double-chocolate caramel, pecan, cookie gelato, but also because of how well it makes tasty, healthy, macro-friendly ice creams that actually help to hit your fitness goals. If your loved one has a sweet tooth and fitness goals they're trying to nail, the Ninja Creami is the perfect Valentine's Day gift. You can also grab the Ninja Creami Deluxe (NC501), which offers the ability to mix the top and bottom of a tub separately so you can have two different flavours, as well as larger 709ml tubs.

Smartwatch
At this price, while there's an abundance of smartwatches and fitness trackers that are outside your budget, there's also plenty that we can easily recommend. Whether your loved one just wants an intelligent timepiece to answer text messages on, want to take their fitness to the next level or you're a little worried about Grandma and want to ensure she'll be okay, a smartwatch is the answer.
For Apple users, at this price (and really any price unless you're opting for the Apple Watch Ultra 2) the Apple Watch SE is an easy recommendation. If you're shopping for an Android user, in this price range there's a heap of options, from the Garmin Instinct 2s and discounted Garmin Forerunner 255S, to the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 7 if you catch it on a deal.
Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds
The WF-1000XM5s are the latest top-tier earbuds from Sony, and they boast incredible sound quality. If your better half will appreciate crisp-sounding bass, they’ll be especially happy with these Sony earbuds. We should say that while the active noise cancellation is good, it can be beaten by the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2, so take your pick depending on what they’ll like more – zealous, exciting music or blissful peace and quiet.
If you're shopping for a music lover who won’t settle for anything less than perfection, these are the buds you want. You getting excellent audio with enthusiastic bass, a comfortable and secure fit and very decent battery life.

Nintendo Switch
OK, we know a Nintendo Switch is a rather expensive Valentine’s Day gift, but hear us out. With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially coming, you'll likely start to see some good deals on the older model. And, unlike most V Day presents, this is one you can actually enjoy together.
One pair of controllers come included with the console, but there’s plenty of games where you’ll only need a single Joy-Con to play in multiplayer, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Whenever you or your partner want some time-out from each other, the two Joy-Cons can be attached to play in single-player handheld mode or on the TV – it’s a win-win. If you don't plan on playing together, the Nintendo Switch Lite is a handheld-only model that's cheaper and comes in a range of attractive colours.

Shark FlexStyle
We know you’ve heard of the Dyson Airwrap, but the Shark FlexStyle is a more affordable alternative that costs half as much. This hair styling tool dries your hair with ease, and like the Dyson it comes with a range of attachments to curl, straighten, volumise or smooth out your strands.
A diffuser is included too for those with curly hair. The paddle brush attachment is one of the best we’ve tested, and could replace the need for a hair straightener for some people – it’s a no-brainer for getting sleek locks with minimal effort.
Coffee machine
If you're shopping for a coffee connoisseur this Valentines Day, you don't need to break the bank to get cafe-level coffee at home. There's a tonne of coffee machines worth considering for under AU$500.
Pod machines offer supreme ease of use – all you have to do is grab a pod, put it into the machine and viola – delicious coffee. Nespresso is probably the brand you think of here – and both the Nespresso Vertuo Next and Nespresso Vertuo Pop are great machines – but the Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa is also worth considering. If you'd rather pay more for a machine that uses actual beans, you'll still be in luck at this price range. The Breville the Barista Express can sometimes be found for around AU$500, and then there's the De'Longhi Magnifica and Dedica Maestro Plus, Nespresso Creatista Uno and more.
