Amazon Prime Day 2024: second sale announced for October

A selection of tech products around the Amazon Prime Day and techRadar logos

Amazon has confirmed our suspicions and recently announced that it will hold another Prime Day sale later this year in October called Prime Big Deal Days. Details are fairly thin in the press release as there isn't even a mention of the actual sale dates, but based on when last year's event took place, it's most likely to be on October 8 – 9. We'll share all the latest news and announcements right here as soon as we hear anything new.

From what we know about the previous Prime Big Deal Days sale, though, you can consider this as early access to Amazon's Black Friday deals. The year's biggest sales event doesn't technically take place until November, but it starts earlier and earlier every year now to stretch over weeks instead of a single day.

The offers should effectively be re-run of what we saw in the earlier Prime Day sale, so you can expect some of the year's lowest prices on Amazon devices such as the Kindle, Echo Spot, Echo Show, Fire TVs and more. That's on top of big savings across the retailer's biggest shopping categories, including TVs, headphones, laptops, appliances, clothing, health and beauty, and gaming.

You can stick with us for all the best Prime Day deals once the second sale starts later this year in early October. Until then, be sure to check in regularly for all the latest news, rumours and expert buying advice.

When was Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Contrary to the name, Amazon Prime Day actually ran for two days across July 16 and July 17 in 2024. Thousands of deals were available for 48-hours across Tuesday and Wednesday before the sale officially ended at 23:59 on July 17. However, some deals remain available on the days after the sale.

Will there be a Prime Day in October 2024?

Amazon has also run a Prime Day in October in the last two years – and the retailer has confirmed it will be doing it again in 2024.

As with the usual Amazon Prime Day sale, the deals will only be available to Amazon Prime members, so you need to sign up to get access. Consider this event a preview of the retailer's big Amazon Black Friday sale, with exclusive record-low prices on some products.

You need to be an Amazon Prime member to access all Prime Day deals. A subscription costs $14.99 per month or $139 for a year.

If you haven't signed up before then new subscribers can get a 30-day Amazon Prime free trial to buy the member-exclusive deals. The free trial also lets you try out all the other membership benefits, including free shipping, access to Prime Video and much more.

You can read our Amazon Prime review for full coverage of what you get as part of a membership. That can help you decide if you want to cancel Amazon Prime once your free trial has ended to avoid being charged the monthly fee.

What are the best Amazon Prime Day deals?

The majority of the best Prime Day deals are on Amazon products The retailer always discounts these products to their lowest prices during Prime Day – even cheaper than we see on Black Friday – which makes it a great time to buy a Fire TV, Kindle, Echo Dot, Fire Tablet and so on.

There are also hundreds of deals in all of the retailer's most popular categories, too, such as TVs, laptops, appliances, smart home tech, gaming, fashion and more. Depending on the product, you can often pay the lowest price that year during Prime Day, though some of the biggest savings are held back for Black Friday in November.

The 20.4MP sensor can produce sharp stills, especially if you pair the OM-5 with one of several excellent lenses available in the micro four-thirds system. The 4K / 30fps video is decent, though we say this is primarily a camera for photographers who can also make use of advanced computational photography modes such as Live ND. Our cameras editor has picked out this deal because it's the lowest price we've ever seen for one of our favorite on-the-go cameras that's barely two years old.
