Amazon Black Friday sale 2024 in Australia: the 10 best deals available now

It's that time of the year again! Amazon AU's Black Friday sale has is well underway, with the international retailer running a two-week long sale on all kinds of gadgets, tech and appliances.

Yes, Amazon AU kicked its Black Friday sales off on Tuesday, November 19 at 00:00am AEDT, with the bargain blitz set to run all the way through to 11:59pm AEDT on Monday, December 2.

You can stay across all the very best Amazon Black Friday sales with our live blog, where we break down the biggest discounts across a wide range of categories, but in this article we'll be listing the 10 best deals that you absolutely shouldn't miss.

After the Black Friday sales period, December 2 will mark Cyber Monday, and unlike last year, Amazon isn't going to extend the sale into December after this date. That makes sense – not long after that, the Amazon Boxing Day sale will start. It really is a great time to be a bargain hunter!

Just keep in mind that during Amazon's Black Friday sale, deals and prices will change now and again. The best offers, though, will likely crop up during the actual Black Friday weekend (November 29 to December 2), although we don't think Amazon hardware will see their discount prices change at any time during the sale.

Prime members will likely get access to the best deals, but this sale is open to everybody. To stay on top of the biggest bargains, make sure you sign up for a Prime membership, which gets you a 30-day free trial and you can cancel any time if you don't want to continue paying. From Amazon's own devices – including Echo speakers, Fire TV Sticks and brand-new 2024 Kindles – to VR headsets, Apple products, cameras and the best headphones, there'll be a lot of tech going cheap. This fantastic little Bluetooth speaker was down to AU$97 in one colour only at the start of Amazon's Black Friday sale but there's now been a little price increase. Even then, the JBL Flip 6 is great value at under AU$100 as it's truly a powerhouse for such a small speaker. And while it lacks flashy features like voice control, you get a rugged and very portable speaker that punches well above its weight with bassy sound.

Prime Big Deal Days: takeaways from October

In October, Amazon Australia hosted its second Prime Big Deal Days sale which, this year, was a 6-day event, just like the July Prime Day sale. This second sale is prelude to what the online retailer is likely to offer during Black Friday and there was one glaring omission – there were no Prime Day Kindle deals in October. That's probably because Amazon might be getting ready to release some new Kindles, but we'll have to wait and see if that's true.

Amazon also didn't discount any of its popular Fire TV Sticks in October, although they were steeply discounted in July and we're quite sure they'll see the same discounts again in November, if not better. There were plenty of Echo smart speakers going cheap though.

While a lot of the other offers either matched what we saw during July's main Prime Day sale event or were less than what was previously on offer, there were plenty of items to shop. With Black Friday, however, Amazon is likely to outdo its October performance, so expect more deals and deeper discounts directly from the retail giant as well as from resellers.

Amazon Australia Black Friday deals 2024: predictions

Being such a massive online retailer, it can be difficult to know what to look for during Amazon’s Black Friday deals. And with the site stocking such a huge range of items, it’s sometimes tricky to predict exactly which devices will see the best offers come November.

Amazon does have its strengths and weaknesses – it’s a great place to head for deals on Amazon’s Echo range of smart home devices, Garmin smartwatches, Apple products, premium audio gear and so much more. When it comes to tech though, there’s one big category that Amazon is missing, and that’s TVs. You might see a small selection of Philips Ambilight TVs discounted on Amazon over Black Friday, perhaps a Sony Bravia and some LG panels, but these will not be the OLEDs.

Amazon will also frequently price match, or even price beat, its online competitors, and we certainly saw that happen over last year’s Black Friday. Keep this in mind while you hunt for deals from various retailers, as you might be able to secure more savings this way.

At any time on its site, Amazon has three types of deals going – there’s Lightning Deals that are only available for a few hours, Deal of the Day that will last for 24 hours and regular deals that will be live for the entire sale period.

You’ll often find that Amazon’s own products, such as Echo devices, Kindles and Fire TV Sticks, will be available for the same price throughout the Black Friday to Cyber Monday weekend, but if you’re looking for other items, you’ll need to keep checking Amazon’s site – or stick with us if it's the best tech deals you're after.

There are also WOW deals to take into the equation. Amazon began to offer these during 2020’s Prime Day – these are available in very limited quantities for just 2-4 hours, and they usually come on popular items such as Apple AirPods Pro, the Nintendo Switch or premium headphones from Bose and Sony. That said, we haven't seen any WOW deals during the two 6-day Prime Day sales this year, so we can't say for certain if these will be on offer again.

It’s also worth noting that Australians will have access to select deals from the Amazon sites in other countries too – specifically the US, UK, Germany and Japan – and they’ll all be visible on our local website. There can be great value in these deals too, but just keep in mind they’ll be the international version of the product and could face shipping delays, or come with international power plugs.
