What to watch this week: New movies and TV shows in the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

Marvel fans have something to be excited about this week as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases in cinemas. Directed by Sam Raimi, Strange must face the consequences of breaking the Multiverse with fellow Avenger Wanda Maximoff, who seems to have her own plan. 

If you’re avoiding the cinemas, you can check out Clark, The Takedown and The Pentaverate, all streaming on Netflix. Don’t forget to add Tehran to your watch list because the second season streams this week on Apple TV+.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange is dealing with the repercussions of his spell that broke the Multiverse. With help from Wanda, Wong, and America Chavez, they all prepare to fight the different chaotic entities that have crossed from another universe, which could spell their doom.

Operation Mincemeat

This war film set during World War II puts the spotlight on Operation Mincemeat, a deception effort to keep the Allied Invasion of Sicily’s plan secret. The film stars Colin Firth and is directed by John Madden.

The Pentaverate

A Canadian journalist goes on a mission to uncover the truth about a secret organisation called The Pentaverate. Aiming to expose the group responsible for influencing world events for the greater good, he risks his life in order to save the world.

The Pentaverate is streaming on Netflix on May 5th 

Clark

This Swedish series centres on the notorious bank robber Clark Olofsson and is the man behind the expression “The Stockholm syndrome”. The series looks at how he managed to fool the entire country and make everyone fall in love with him despite the countless several criminal acts charged against him, including assault and attempted murder.

The Takedown

Meet Ousmane and François, two cops that have their own different styles and backgrounds. While they may look like an unlikely pair, the two must team up for a new drug investigation that will take them across France. What started as a simple drug bust now becomes a high stakes case merged with danger and humour.

Along for the Ride

In this romantic drama, Auden longs for an adventure that she felt she never had while growing up. Enter the mysterious Eli, who introduces himself as a fellow insomniac like Auden. Looking to experience the teen life she always wanted, the two go on nightly quests when the town is asleep, and both discover something in themselves that they never knew they wanted.

Girls5eva

This series features a one-hit-wonder girl group from the ‘90s that find themselves back in the spotlight when a new artist samples their song in his latest single. Executive produced by Tina Fey, this musical comedy series explores the high and lows of fame and showcases its severe and humorous sides.

The Wilds

The second season continues as a group of teenage girls fight for survival on a deserted island after finding out they are all there as part of an elaborate experiment. More drama and chaos ensues with the introduction of new test subjects in. the form of teenage boys, which they might either fight or partner with in order to stay alive.

Tehran

The series tells the story of Tamar, a Mossad hacker-agent who goes inside the heart of Tehran under a false identity with the mission to destroy Iran’s nuclear reactor. The Big Conn

A larger-than-life story, this series brings into light the life of Eric C. Conn, who was living a rather opulent lifestyle in eastern Kentucky. He is soon revealed to have stolen more than half a billion dollars after two whistleblowers exposed him, making this the biggest Social Security fraud case in history.
