Black Friday has wrapped up for 2024, but before you know it, the 2025 Black Friday season will be upon us. The major sales event brought huge price drops on smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Google and other major brands, wrapping up on Cyber Monday after the sales weekend.

Across the discounts, you could save quite a lot of money on new and old phones. When it comes to Apple smartphones, older iPhones received the bulk of price cuts, while newer Android phones had prices generously slashed.

Amazon's Black Friday sales led the charge on most tech discounts throughout Black Friday 2024, though JB Hi-Fi and Aussie telcos also offered some welcome price cuts.

So here's everything you need to know about 2025 Black Friday phone discounts in Australia well before they kick off, based on what we saw during the 2024 sales season.

When will the best Black Friday phone deals start in 2025?

Black Friday deals are expected to start on midnight (12am) AEDT on Friday, November 28, 2025, though many retailers have historically started putting deals up early in the lead-up to Black Friday, including Amazon and JB Hi-Fi. That being said, the best deals are typically reserved for the official Black Friday weekend, which will run through to Cyber Monday on December 1.

Where will the best Cyber Monday phone deals be?

We'll be rounding up all the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday phone deals right here on this page, so bookmark it and check in regularly for recommendations when the sales season begins. As a quick overview, here are the big three retailers that we're expecting to feature the best phone deals over the Black Friday weekend.

eBay Australia: a one stop shop for a lot of hot offers
JB Hi-Fi: discounts on big-ticket phones and mid-range marvels

What Black Friday phone deals do we expect to see in 2025?

For Black Friday phone deal hunters, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that there are usually plenty of deals, and almost every phone you can imagine has gone on sale somewhere.

But if you're an iPhone fan, you may be disappointed, as Apple devices don't usually see the same major price drops as Android rivals. In fact, the best deals you'll find will likely be part of a contract agreement, but if you were already shopping for service, you could absolutely score a bargain. This said, older iPhones tend to get nice price drops, attractive if you don't care about having the latest and greatest device.

Smaller phone makers like Motorola are more likely to offer discounts than Apple and Samsung. Google has also been known to drop the price on Pixel phones for Black Friday in the past. Third-party retailers will be a good bet too, including The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi.

Apple's newly released iPhone 16 can be snatched up for just AU$100 from Vodafone, with the telco offering AU$1,299 off when you purchase the phone alongside a AU$79 per month plan spanning a 36-month repayment period. Tallied up, that brings the cost of the phone down to just AU$100 plus plan costs. Other storage and colourway options have received the same discount, as has the iPhone 16 Plus.

iPhone 16 Pro (256GB): was AU$1,799 now AU$500 (plus plan costs) at Vodafone
Save AU$1,299

The iPhone 16 Pro is the best phone that Apple makes, offering impressive cameras, a gorgeous display, and access to Apple Intelligence features. Vodafone is offering this discount when you purchase the phone on a AU$79 per month plan spanning a 36-month repayment period. Other storage capacity options and colourways have received the same discount. In our iPhone 16 Pro review, the handset received a TechRadar Best in Class seal of approval. This deal also applies to the smaller option, the iPhone 16 Pro Max .

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (1TB):

Save AU$364.10

Say you want a high-end iPhone with a lot of storage, but don't want the latest Pro Max – this deal is for you. The iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB option is currently discounted at Amazon, perfect for if you don't want to worry about running out of space for your photos, videos and apps. Other storage and colour options are not currently discounted at Amazon.

Apple iPhone 14 (128GB, Blue)
Apple iPhone 14 (128GB, Blue): was AU$1,299 now AU$1,047 at techradar.com

Save AU$252

Two generations old and still a nice value pick for a smartphone, the iPhone 14 128GB option is currently AU$2 cheaper from Amazon than it is from Apple directly – but only for the blue model. While being mostly a minor upgrade to the iPhone 13, the 14 did ship with a new heat dissipation system and a better TrueDepth camera, which we complimented in our review.

Image
Apple iPhone 13 (128GB, Midnight):

Save AU$130

The iPhone 13 is expected to be supported until 2028, and although it's now three generations old, it's a welcome option as an entry-point and affordable way to get into the Apple ecosystem. The cameras and display may seem a little dated compared to newer iPhones, and perhaps you'll have Dynamic Island envy, but it's a nice price that's only just above the cost of a new iPhone SE at AU$719.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (128GB)
Lowest price
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (128GB): was AU$1,847 now AU$1,447 at techradar.com

Save AU$400

Only having been revealed back in August, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is already discounted, making it exceptionally attractive, particularly if you want the best non-foldable Pixel. The 9 Pro XL comes with the Tensor G4 chip and Google's latest suite of AI features for a phone, along with a gorgeous screen and a brilliant array of cameras. In our Google Pixel 9 Pro XL review, the phone received a TechRadar Recommends seal of approval, though we weren't too thrilled about the high price. With a discount however, it's hard to turn away from. 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options are also discounted.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold 5G (256GB)
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold 5G (256GB): was AU$2,697 now AU$2,197 at techradar.com

Save AU$500

Google's first foldable to come to Australia has been discounted just three months after releasing down under. The phone includes many of the same great specs as the Pixel 9 Pro XL, though with slightly less powerful cameras and a lower fast charging capacity, but among the book-style foldables on offer right now, it's definitely one to consider. We loved the phone in our review.

Google Pixel 9 (128GB, Black):

Save AU$350 with membership

Google's cheapest Pixel 9 option is a very competent phone that offers brilliant camera performance and the company's suite of AI-powered features (including the very cool Magic Eraser). It's powered by the same Tensor G4 chip that's in the Pro models, and though the screen is slightly lower spec, it's still gorgeous. Note that to get this discount you'll need to be a Kogan First member – otherwise the price is still lowered to AU$1,019, though it'd be a shame to miss out on such a saving.

Also available for AU$1,047 from JB Hi-Fi and AU$1,049 from the Google Store.

Note: this is an import of an international model.

Google Pixel 8a 5G (128GB)
Google Pixel 8a 5G (128GB): was AU$849 now AU$647 at techradar.com

Save AU$202

Google's cheap entry-point Pixel smartphone of 2024, the Pixel 8a, has received a nice discount, making it a particularly attractive smartphone to pick up if you don't want to go over the AU$1,000 price point. The Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay coloured devices are all discounted from The Good Guys, each offering Google's brilliant array of cameras, the Tensor G3 chip, and 128GB storage capacity. We loved the phone in our review and it earned a Techradar Recommends seal of approval, though the battery life isn't great and it is underpowered compared to Snapdragon-powered alternatives. Also available from Google directly for AU$649.

Image
Samsung Galaxy A55 (128GB, Awesome Navy):

Save AU$152

Samsung's budget handsets are excellent, and the Galaxy A55 is such a nice smartphone that it sits well beside the Galaxy S24 range. Though eBay was offering this phone for AU$447 during Black Friday, AU$547 isn't a bad price for it either.

Image
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (Titanium Grey, 256GB):

Save AU$412

This phone went down to as low as AU$1,670 during the Black Friday sales, but 19% off Samsung's flagship smartphone is also very much worth it With an S Pen to make photography fun and easy, plus aid in productivity, this is a powerhouse phone. Only the 256GB Titanium Grey and Titanium Yellow models have received this discount.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE(128GB): was AU$1,098 now AU$598.32 (plus plan costs) at OptusSave AU$500.40

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE(128GB): was AU$1,098 now AU$598.32 (plus plan costs) at Optus
Save AU$500.40

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE was released October 2024 as a cheap entry-point to the Galaxy S24 range of devices, featuring the brand's Galaxy AI suite of features and a gorgeous sharp display. In TechRadar's review of the device, we loved its long battery life, strong performance and gorgeous display, though we thought that the iPhone-like design probably won't be a winner for everyone and that some of the phone's best features are hidden away. With this Optus deal, you'll need to sign up for an eligible plan over a 24-month or 36-month period to activate the monthly saving. Plan costs start at AU$52 per month.

Image
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 (256GB):

Save AU$369

Getting 21% off the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a welcome discount. A smartphone with a unique form factor, thanks to its classic flip-phone folding mechanism, its back screen and tall profile, this is a device to buy if you want your daily handset to have some style. Mint and Blue colourways are currently discounted, though Silver Shadow and Yellow are slightly more expensive.

Image
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (128GB, Black):

Save AU$825

Definitely being one of the best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 deals we've seen since the phone debuted back in July, Samsung's second Black Friday flash sale brought a huge discount on the online exclusive Black model. It’s an especially attractive deal if you want a large phone that was launched relatively recently, and it features a powerful array of cameras and brilliant processing power. But be quick – this offer ends on November 23.

Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra 5G (256GB)
Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra 5G (256GB): was AU$1,599 now AU$1,098 at tomsguide.com

Save AU$501

While we haven't reviewed the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra, our friends at Tom's Guide lauded it for its long-lasting battery life, its colourful display and its nice base price, however it has unimpressive photo processing. If you're looking for a Samsung or Google smartphone alternative, this is a nice pick.

Oppo Reno12 5G (256GB)
Oppo Reno12 5G (256GB): was AU$799 now AU$647 at techradar.com

Save AU$152

A budget to mid-range smartphone that gives the Google Pixel 8a a run for its money, the Oppo Reno 12 is well worth considering if you want a cheap handset with tonnes of power but don't want to spend too much. It comes with a Dimensity 7300 CPU and is underpinned by 12GB RAM, with the model on sale boasting 256GB storage capacity. We liked the phone in our review of it, though the design could be seen as a little cheap, its AI features are slow, and there's quite a bit of bloatware.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo (256GB)
Motorola Edge 50 Neo (256GB): was AU$699 now AU$348 at techradar.com

Save AU$351

Motorola's mid-range Edge 50 option, the Neo is available with more than half the price slashed off. While TechRadar hasn't reviewed the Neo, we thought quite highly of its cheaper sibling, the Fusion, complimenting it for its stylish and quality build, its long-lasting battery and its inclusion of a high capacity charger. It did struggle with some high-performance tasks, however. Available in Pantone Poinciana and Pantone Grisaille.

Image
Motorola Moto G85 (128GB, Cobalt Blue):

Save AU$101

While we haven't tested the Motorola Moto G85, the phone has received positive reviews online for its performance (both internally and for taking photos) at a low price point – and with such a big saving, it's a very attractive budget phone.

Nothing Phone (2a) (Milk White)
Nothing Phone (2a) (Milk White): was AU$599 now AU$424.41 at techradar.com

Save AU$174.59

A competitively-priced Android smartphone with a distinctive and attractive style, the Nothing Phone (2a) offers up fairly great performance if you're shopping below the mid-range point. The phone received our TechRadar Recommends seal of approval in our Nothing Phone 2a review.

Image
CMF by Nothing Phone 1 (128GB):

Save AU$66

Nothing's sub-brand CMF is focused on easily upgradeable smartphones, with the first model built to be pulled apart, upgraded and self-repaired. It's a fairly cheap handset to begin with but you do get some nice specs with the initial purchase, including a 120Hz, AMOLED display, 128GB base storage and 8GB RAM on the discounted model, along with a satisfying 50MP main camera. All colourways are currently discounted on Amazon.

Image
Nokia X30 5G 256GB:

Save AU$400

One of Nokia's higher-end smartphones, the X30 5G 256GB received great reviews online for its nice display and stylish design. The X30 5G is just over half price with this deal at JB Hi-Fi, but if you're after better performance, it's certainly worth comparing the X30 to its competition. For AU$450 though, the X30 is a solid phone.
