The answers to today's Quordle, game #976, are…

  • STAGE
  • VOGUE
  • CLUMP
  • HEATH

I made rather a mess of today's Quordle, playing STAGE in exactly the way I shouldn't have done and nearly paying for it with my streak. STAGE is one of those words with multiple answers that differ by only one letter: STARE, STATE, STALE, STAKE, STAGE and STAVE all fit. In this scenario you should always narrow things down, rather than doing what I did and blindly guessing until I found the right one. But what did I do? Yes, I blindly guessed.

By the time I got to it, STALE, STATE and STARE had all been ruled out, but rather than play, say VOGUE in order to point the way to the correct answer, I guessed STAKE and then STAVE before finally getting STAGE. On the plus side, that did give me the V and G I needed for VOGUE in the top right, so it wasn't a disaster. But it was silly.

How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.
