FAQs

Can I make my O2 contract cheaper?

Yes, you're not locked into an expensive contract you can't pay. You can make your O2 contract cheaper by changing the tariff if you got your contract on or after March 22, 2018. Another way to lower your contract is with one-off payments, which lowers the amount you pay every month, though this won't affect the overall terms of your contract.

Does O2 do loyalty discounts?

Yes, O2 has three main loyalty programs: Multisave, O2 Rewards and O2 Open. Multisave is a 20% discount on airtime and SIM-only airtime plans for each new connection you add to your account. You can add up to 20 numbers, which increases your overall savings. O2 Rewards is for their pay-as-you-go services. You can opt-in to it, and you'll earn rewards equivalent to 5% of how much you've topped up your phone each quarter. O2 Open is only for eligible jobs, like the NHS, Sainsbury's and school teachers. It offers up to 25% off your airtime plan when you buy a new phone or tablet on O2 Refresh.

Do you get an NHS discount with O2?

Yes, O2 offers NHS discounts through its O2 Open program. You just need to activate and register an O2 Open account, enter the discount code 'NHS01' when O2 asks and complete an online form within 28 days with a valid work email. You can also upload a payslip from the last three months. The discount works for the length of your device plan.

What freebies do you get with O2?

O2 has a number of freebies and benefits, like priority queueing for live event tickets, savings on food from places like Greggs and Pizza Express, discounts on streaming services like Disney+ and MUBI and discounted cinema tickets.

Hints and Tips

Consider SIM-Only: It's usually more cost-effective to buy a new phone and use one of O2's SIM-only plans. While the upfront cost is higher, you only pay for a data or phone plan, meaning you'll save a lot of money over the long term. With a usual contract, you pay for the value of your phone on top. SIM-only is worth it if you can afford to buy a new phone outright.

Get the right package for your needs: Make sure you don't pay too much for things you don't need, like minutes, texts and data. One of the easiest ways to save money on a phone contract is to pick a plan that suits you and your lifestyle, otherwise, you risk overpaying.

See if O2's rewards work for you: O2 Rewards has quite a few discounts and offers available, but make sure they work for you first. For example, if you use Disney+ and Vue's your closest cinema, then O2 may be worth it since they offer discounts on both of these. Compare their rewards to other major providers and see who has the best rewards mix for you.

Check your O2 discount eligibility: O2 offers a variety of discounts for different people, like Blue Light and NHS discounts. They offer a 20% student discount on O2 Refresh plans too.

Try Multisave: Multisave gets you 20% off each airtime plan (the cost of the data, minutes, and texts) for each new monthly connection you add to your account. So, let's say you pay a monthly fee of £19 for your device and £16 for your calls, minutes and data, adding a connection will get you 20% off your £16 airtime charge. That's a £3.20 saving monthly.

Use O2's trade-in service: You can recycle your old phone with O2 through its "Recycle" service. You search for your phone, tablet, watch or AirPod and then place your O2 order. O2 will then ask you to prepare your device by deleting personal data and sending your old device to them. O2 will ask for you to package your phone with your order summary, and then they'll pay you when they get the device. This service is open to non-O2 customers, too. It's a good way to earn some extra money if you're replacing your old phone anyway.

How we source voucher codes

At TechRadar, we have a number of tools at our disposal to help us find the latest voucher codes. Our Vouchers team uses connections with big name brands, our affiliate networks, and the world wide web to source the latest & best codes for our pages. Each page is updated multiple times a week with sales info, exclusive codes negotiated by our Commercial team, and a number of ways to save on your next online order.

How we test voucher codes

Every code listed on TechRadar is tested before it’s added to our pages by our Vouchers team. We include a range of offers including student discounts, sale prices, free shipping, & more across a number of categories of products & services. Each code is checked to ensure it is accepted at the checkout, and you won’t find any one-time use or user-specific codes.

The expiry date and any terms & conditions of each code are also displayed on the page, next to or below the ‘Get Code’ button, for added clarity. Click the text that reads ‘Terms & Conditions’ to expand the corresponding area, where you can read more about any requirements your order will need to meet in order for your chosen coupon to be accepted.

What to do if a voucher code doesn’t work

We take the utmost care to verify every code before it’s uploaded, and include as much relevant information as we can find to make using our codes as straightforward as possible. However, sometimes codes expire or are amended before we’re able to refresh our pages, and codes may not work as intended.

Should you experience any issues, it’s always best to start by checking the terms & conditions on the page. Click  “View terms and conditions” and the code area will expand. You’ll see all applicable criteria listed in this area. For example, you may not meet a required minimum spend (i.e. spend £20 or more); you may not have enough times in your basket (e.g. you have only selected 2 products when trying to redeem a 3 for 2 multibuy offer), or your chosen offer may only apply to a certain type of product (i.e. 10% off laptops).

If issues persist once you’ve checked that you’ve met any necessary requirements, you can get in touch with our support team by emailing coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Please provide as much detail about your issue as possible - including which code you used and where you found it - and we’ll be in touch to provide support as soon as we can.

How we make money

All the money TechRadar makes through its voucher pages is earned through a commission-based model. We have deals in place with every retailer that has a voucher page on our site, and every time someone makes a purchase using one of our codes, we earn a percentage of the total basket value back in commission.

Thanks to this model, we can offer all of our codes & discounts completely free of charge. You’ll never be asked to pay a fee to redeem an offer on our site - all you’ll pay is the discounted price of the products or services you’ve chosen to buy.

If you want to find out more about TechRadar’s voucher pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Voucher Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
