Cyber Monday 2024: key information

When is Cyber Monday 2024?

In 2024, Cyber Monday is on December 2, the Monday directly following this year's Black Friday, which was on November 29. Though Cyber Monday is officially only one day, some retailers will offer 'Cyber Week' sales that can continue on until the following Monday, but these are typically few and far between in Australia.

What is Cyber Monday?

With the rise of internet shopping over 15 years ago, Cyber Monday emerged to give new online retailers the opportunity to grab a cut of the Black Friday sales profit. It worked and has been tagged on the end of the Black Friday sales since 2005.

Now a major part of the Black Friday weekend, Cyber Monday closes out the biggest sale event of the year, and this year it lands on December 2 – the Monday directly after Black Friday, which was on November 29 in 2024.

Is Cyber Monday too late to get a good deal?

Generally, no – often Cyber Monday will still offer up a bunch of the best deals during the Black Friday sales period. However, in previous years there have been supply chain issues that have caused items to become quite limited in a variety of different categories. Previously toys, phones and even mattresses have been hard to come by on the last day of the Black Friday weekend. This year, we're expecting stock issues on tech, like popular smartphones (Apple specifically), cameras and potentially game consoles too.

It’s still too early to pinpoint the best deals on offer during Cyber Monday, it is generally better to get in early to avoid disappointment especially on high-demand items that may only have limited stock during the sale. Regardless, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the best bargains available and popping them right here as well as keeping note of any supply chain issues that may come up.

When does Cyber Monday end?

Cyber Monday closes out the official Black Friday sales, or what is increasingly being called Cyber Weekend in Australia. As a one-day event, Cyber Monday 2024 will end at 11.59 pm AEDT on December 2.

However, you’ll likely find a few deals rolling on into the week immediately following Cyber Monday, with some big-ticket items often staying on sale until Monday or Tuesday the following week.

Where to find the best Cyber Monday deals

Practically every Aussie retailer will be trying to grab your attention at the end of November, offering deals and discounts of all shapes and sizes. So you can easily shop around if you have the time and patience for it.

Cyber Monday 2024: buying advice

How do I get the best Cyber Monday deals in 2024?

We’ll be rounding up all the best Cyber Monday deals right here so you can find them without shuffling through site after site. We’ll categorise each item so you can easily find the tech you’re after with our in-page navigation.

We have some additional tips to help you make the most out of the Cyber Monday sales so you can find the best deals on the tech you really want.

1. Check in early
Just like with Black Friday, to avoid disappointment we recommend checking for deals early on. However, not all deals will launch straightaway on November 29, and there’ll likely be some flash sales on sites such as Amazon that pop up over the weekend that have limited time and quantity. A lot of deals will also continue through the weekend, so it definitely helps to check in on Saturday and Sunday as well.

2. Know what you’re looking for
It really pays off to know exactly what you want ahead of time. Having a general shopping list with a basic idea on what you’re after will save you time and likely money not just on Cyber Monday, but also during the entire Black Friday weekend. We recommend having a look at specs for laptops ahead of time on sites such as Dell, Lenovo and HP so you can get an idea of what might be offered during the Cyber Monday sales.

3. Be prepared to buy alternatives
Accompanying tip #2, if you can be flexible with your purchase you might be able to snag a deal on a hot ticket item that sold out prior. While this might not always be possible with gadgets such as consoles, devices like laptops and TVs can often be found with similar or even the same specs between different brands. You might even save more if you’re brand-agnostic during the Cyber Monday sales.
