Learn the basics

Hero Wars: Dominion Era is an online free-to-play ARPG set in a fantasy world. The game centers around heroes, characters that you can bring into battle to defeat enemies and complete quests. The game opens with a tutorial, which explains how to fight in battles and gives you your first free heroes: Galahad, Artemis, Thea, Phobos, and Astaroth.

The main game mode in Hero Wars: Dominion Era is the campaign, which consists of 15 chapters with 218 individual missions. These range from standard enemy encounters to terrifying boss fights. Completing missions earns you plenty of EXP and gear that can be used to increase your hero rank, which is essential as you progress and begin to fight fight tougher enemies.

Missions can be replayed at any time, allowing you to get more loot if you need it. There’s also a handy Raid function that is unlocked at VIP level 1. This lets you instantly complete missions that you have already mastered for the same rewards.

Just bear in mind that tackling a mission requires a certain amount of energy, even as a Raid. You start out with a generous allowance of energy that is regenerated over time. Energy can be obtained through your daily bonus rewards, so don’t forget to claim them.

Master the heroes

Combat in Hero Wars: Dominion Era is easy-to-learn, but still offers plenty of depth. The game features loads of playable heroes, each with their own unique main stats, secondary stats, and bonuses.

Each hero is a specific role, be that tank, warrior, marksman, mage, support, control, or healer. While it might be tempting to fill your squad with the heroes that look the coolest, these roles all fill a different function in battle so it’s worth paying some attention to your team composition.

Lian, for example, is a control hero who can cast effects that hamper your opponent’s abilities. As she inherently has a lower damage output than other heroes, it would be a good idea to pair her with some heroes from high damage classes like tank or warrior.

If you ever get stuck in the campaign, you should either level up your existing squad of heroes or try experimenting with different combinations to find one that works. You can always view detailed information about your heroes by tapping the Heroes button and selecting the Stats tab.

Try the other modes

The campaign is just one of the game modes in Hero Wars: Dominion Era. Others become unlocked as your progress, starting with the Arena at team level 10. The Arena is a player versus player (PvP) mode where you battle against other players online for a wide range of rewards. It’s ideal if you want a change of pace or something to really challenge yourself and see what your heroes can do.

You unlock the Tower at team level 15, a tough gauntlet with 50 floors that refresh on a daily basis. There are also a range of player versus enemy (PvE) game modes that offer their own unique gameplay mechanics. You shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to create or join a Guild once you hit team level 30 either, as it’s a fantastic way to make friends and work towards guild rewards.

No matter what kind of player you are, there’s almost definitely going to be something for you Hero Wars: Dominion Era. It’s well worth trying each of these modes as they are available in case you find a new favorite.

Have fun

Starting any new game can be quite overwhelming, especially when it’s something as content-rich as Hero Wars: Dominion Era. Luckily, there’s no pressure to rush and at the end of the day the most important thing is your enjoyment. There’s nothing wrong with focusing on the parts of the game that you like the most, whether that’s collecting heroes, tackling the campaign, or interacting with other players all from all over the world.

Your new player bonus will become available after the tutorial, giving you a new hero to try and plenty of resources to give you a big head start and make your adventure even smoother.
