Nectar and Sealy Chill are two of our favorite sleep brands, and they're both near the top of our best mattress guide. They're also both best known for making affordable memory foam mattresses that avoid the pitfalls often associated with cheap all-foam designs.

We had a chance to get hands-on during our Nectar Memory Foam mattress review, and found it supportive but with an embracing surface that hugged the contours. We also got stuck in during our Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review, and we were very impressed with the excellent cooling and the firmer feel.

I've done a deep dive into the differences between Nectar vs Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattresses, so take a look at that if you're really struggling to decide. But time is ticking on the best Black Friday mattress deals, so take a look at this guide if you need to act fast.

Our top-rated memory foam mattress, the Nectar Memory Foam is a really strong all-rounder. The medium firmness surface appeals to a variety of sleep styles and it performed strongly in all our testing areas. Even better – it does all that at a lower mid-range price which is even better in the 40% off Black Friday sale.

You like the memory foam hug: Nectar delivers a classic memory foam 'hug'. The cushioning contours to your joints, but you won't feel swallowed up by the mattress. A great balance of softness and support.

You sleep on your side: The softer surface (6.5/10 on the firmness scale) offers relief at the key pressure points: the shoulders and hips. For side sleepers, that means you won't wake up with aches and pains.

You need time to decide: There's a 365-night trial with the Nectar Memory Foam mattress, so you can try it out risk-free in all seasons. If you are worried about the temperature regulation, you can experience the Nectar in summer and winter before committing.

Don't buy the Nectar Memory Foam if...

❌ You sleep hot: The Nectar Memory Foam isn't bad at temperature regulation. Memory foam mattresses can sleep hot, and compared to cheaper memory foam beds, it's actually pretty good. But the cushioned 'hug' of the Nectar can hold heat. The Cocoon by Sealy Chill is the better choice if you want a cool night. Alternatively, consider upgrading your Nectar Memory Foam to the Nectar Premier Copper. This is the more supportive, cooler Nectar model, and there's 40% off in the Nectar Black Friday flash sale.

❌ You like to move around in the night: The thick cushioned 'hug' of the Nectar holds onto you, making it harder to move. This isn't necessarily bad news – if you hate fidgeting, this is a good feature. But if you like the bed to respond to your movement, the firmer surface of the Cocoon Chill will fit your needs better. Or consider switching to a hybrid mattress. During our DreamCloud mattress review, we were impressed with the balance of bounce and cushioning. There's 40% off in the DreamCloud Black Friday sale

The Cocoon by Sealy Chill isn't what you might expect from a memory foam mattress. It's firmer than a traditional memory foam and doesn't hold the heat like cheap foam. This cooling effect is particularly impressive when you consider the lower mid-range price (plus 35% off for Black Friday).

You overheat in the night: Increased ventilation helps heat circulate through the foam, while a proprietary Phase Change Material absorbs and dissipates warmth. Together, they help keep the mattress at a comfortable temperature, even on a hot night.

You sleep on your front and back: The Cocoon Chill is a firmer memory foam mattress – we rate it 8/10. This extra support is better for front and back sleepers, helping keep the body correctly aligned as you sleep.

You want a new bed setup: For Black Friday, Sealy Chill is offering both a 35% discount on the mattress and a free sleep bundle with purchase. So, if you were looking for sheets, pillows, and a mattress protector, this could be a cost effective buy.

Don't buy the Cocoon by Sealy Chill if...

❌ You want the memory foam 'hug': The Cocoon Chill is a memory foam mattress that doesn't feel much like a memory foam. At 8/10 firmness, sleepers don't get the embracing cushioning of the Nectar Memory Foam. If you really like to sink into your bed, try a cushioning topper. During out Tempur-Adapt mattress topper review we found it provided a next-level cradling hug. There's 40% off in the Tempur Black Friday sale.

❌ You have a real issue with overheating: For a budget-friendly memory foam, the Cocoon by Sealy Chill offers decent cooling. However, if overheating is causing you serious problems, you might need an upgrade. The Purple Plus is a premium cooling mattress, and it's $300 off in the Purple Plus Black Friday sale.
