Best macro flash kits: Nikon Close-up Speedlight Remote Kit R1
Price: £430, $460
Buy it: www.europe-nikon.com
Supplied in a carrying case, the R1 kit includes two programmable, wireless SB-R200 flashguns.
They mount onto a ring that comes with five screw-in adaptors to fit lenses with threads of between 52mm and 77mm.
On top of that, you get diffusers, coloured filters, stands and clamps for both flashguns.
The flashguns are triggered in wireless mode using the pop-up flash in commander mode, on compatible Nikons that go back as far as the D70 and D200.
For cameras that lack a commander mode, you'd need the R1C1 kit, which includes an SU-800 wireless commander, and costs £560 ($720).
Our Verdict
Pros… Wireless integration with in-camera control.
Cons… Only works with Nikons where the pop-up flash works as a wireless commander.
WE say… Gives superb results.
