Best macro flash: 6 top models tested and rated
Best macro flash kits: Sigma EM-140 DG
Price: £315, $379

The Sigma's lighting ring fits around the lens and features two fairly small flash tubes, mounted on opposite sides.
A 55mm and 62mm adaptor are supplied and additional ones are available in sizes from 52mm to 77mm.
There are onboard controls for adjusting auto TTL and manual flash output, and there's an option to use either or both of the two flash tubes.
The level of control is good but the interface is not as intuitive as with the Nissin flashgun.
Even so, build quality is reassuringly solid and the Sigma is a very capable performer. On balance, the Nissin is rather better value for money.
Our Verdict
Pros… Wide-ranging controls, accurate auto TTL exposure.
Cons… The control system is a tricky to find your way around.
WE say… Works well enough but it's not the best value for money.
