OnePlus Nord TWS design and specifications seemingly confirmed

We'd heard rumblings around OnePlus's plans of launching multiple devices this year including a Nord branded smartwatch and a pair of TWS.

Now the keen-eyed folks at MySmartPrice have not only been able to share live images of the upcoming earbuds as they head for necessary certifications but have shared a whole lot of technical details as well.

The earbuds were in a black all-plastic body and has a smaller and thinner stem than the OnePlus Buds Z2. This could mean that the TWS will continue to feature a touch-sensitive sensor at the head of the earbuds.

The images also show the OnePlus charging case with the company’s iconic red Type-C to USB-A cable which is similar to the one that is provided with most OnePlus TVs to charge the remote. But knowing OnePlus, these TWS earbuds will definitely be compatible with existing Type-C smartphone chargers.

Other details that we were able to get from the images indicate that the charging case may be in a matte finish or a rubberised body. However, since these are initial impressions, we suggest that readers take this information with a pinch of salt.

Specifications of the device have also been leaked through the FCC certification. The OnePlus Nord Buds will come with a 480 mAh battery pack according to the listing with each earbud having a 41 mAh battery capacity - which corroborates with the previous report.

It has been observed that the case has the model number E505A while each earbud has the model number E505AR and E505AL, namely the right and left respectively.

The report also confirms that the OnePlus Nord Buds were also seen in BIS certifications, which means the TWS earbuds could also make their way to India when the Nord CE 2 Lite will be announced.

A recent tweet by Max Jambor further hints that the OnePlus Nord Buds do exist, as the tipster mentions that the TWS will be available in Black, Beige and either Grey or Blue colour.

Nord has a reputation to build up again

While OnePlus Nord did have a great start in the premium mid-range budget initially, the Nord 2 has a rocky reputation after units of the smartphone were seen to explode. And OnePlus has been able to maintain a clean slate so far after the launch of the Nord CE 2. At least so far.

Concerns over the safety of the battery have been a priority, not just for smartphones but also for EVs in our country. A smartphone exploding in the pocket of your trousers or in your handbag is dangerous no doubt. But earbuds that could leave you hearing-paired, if they ever do explode, would be a nail in the coffin for the Nord series entirely.

Having a more affordable option for the OnePlus fan base to choose from is great, but keeping their safety a priority above all else will be the best that OnePlus can offer for now.
