Oppo rolled out the Reno 7 series in India just a couple of months ago that consists of two smartphones - Oppo Reno 7, and Reno 7 Pro. Rumours have it that the company has already started working on the Reno 8 series and it can hit the Chinese market in May 2022.
It has been claimed by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station that the base variant of the series, Oppo Reno 8, will feature a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. The chipset is said to be a stripped-off version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
If rumours are to be believed, the series will come with devices offering Snapdragon and MediaTek Dimensity flagship-level processors. One of the variants from the series will carry model number PGAM10. The tipster has also tipped a few key specifications of the upcoming series.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor
No doubt Oppo Reno 8 could be the first smartphone to ship with the snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. The chipset will have a quad-core CPU and it will be paired with the Adreno 662 GPU.
Rumours suggest that the chipset could make its debut sometime in May, close to the time when Oppo Reno 8 series is going to launch. As far as we can figure out, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor is Qualcomm's answer to MediaTek Dimensity 8000 series processors.
Oppo Reno 8 series expected specifications
The device carrying model number PGAM10 (probably Oppo Reno 8) will most probably get a 6.55-inch display complemented with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will have LPDDR5 type RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone could also ship with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
It could be powered by a 4500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. The charging speed looks like an upgrade considering the fact that the Reno 7 series included 65W SuperVOOC charging. Apart from that, other Oppo Reno 8 series devices could be seen running on the MediaTek Dimensity 8000 or the Dimensity 9000 series processors.
Until now, only this much information is available regarding the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 devices. We can expect more details as soon as the launch approaches. It would be too early to comment on the pricing. However, the variant with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC could be priced somewhere in the range of Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000.
