Poco Watch may come to the Indian market after the European launch
New reports suggest the smartwatch will launch soon in Italy
Poco’s smartwatch is soon expected to make its debut launch in Italy and other European countries soon. The Poco Watch was also previously expected to launch in India alongside the Poco X4 Pro 5G, but that did not happen.
According to a report by Notebookcheck, the Poco Watch with the same model number ‘M2131W1’ that was spotted in an EEC registration in February is expected to first launch in Italy. The registration again does not provide any specifications of the device at this time.
A BIS certification of the Poco Watch has also been hinted at in the past for an India launch, but the official announcement or tease on any of the company’s social media accounts has not happened yet. The registration again does not provide any specifications of the device at this time. As reported earlier, the Poco Watch will not be manufactured by Xiaomi but by its subsidiary company 70mai, which has in the past worked on the Saphir Watch and it could be a possibility that we may see a similar design on the Poco Watch too.
If the Poco Watch would share the same specifications as the Saphir, then we could expect to see a 1.78-inch AMOLED display with a Sapphire glass protection with a max brightness of 500 nits. The chassis is 9.8mm thin and houses a 320 mAh battery pack that powers the rest of the hardware. Like many smartwatches in the market, you can expect the Poco Watch to detect multiple workouts while also monitoring your heart rate regularly.
While we haven’t seen the company confirm any of the details on social media, we would have to wait and see what Poco would offer for its first smartwatch. The company does provide affordable alternatives to Xiaomi’s products and it may be possible that the smartwatch would be budget-oriented too.
Poco’s phased independence
While Poco has now become an independent brand, however, we believe that this could be in a phased manner when it comes to products. Some of the recent launches this year by the company continue to be rebranded versions of Xiaomi’s Redmi devices.
It would be great to see Poco bring a unique design to the products to stand out from the competition. After the launch of the Poco X4 Pro 5G, the company has hinted that they would launch a GT series smartphone with better specifications which we believe could be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
