It seems like Realme is trying to set up a new record by launching maximum smartphones in a single series. Just after the debut of Realme 9, now we have got the news that the brand is all set to launch a new Realme 9 series smartphone named Realme 9 Pro Plus Free Fire Edition.

As the name suggests, the smartphone is nothing but a Free Fire inspired version of the previously launched Realme 9 Pro Plus. As for Free Fire, the game got banned in India in February 2022 citing security concerns,

Going by the image, it looks like the smartphone will get a modified rear panel and the design will be based on Free Fire. The camera module will be placed at the top left corner including a triple rear camera setup. On the other hand, a 'Booyah' text can also be seen just next to the camera module.

Why not use a custom skin, instead?

This is not the first time that a brand wants to launch a phone based on a game. We've seen quite a few in the past - a case in point being the OnePlus Nord 2 PacMan edition.

However, the phone offered a lot in terms of customization, a glowing back, custom-designed icons and more. Though the phone had a slew of cosmetic changes to suit the theme, will the Realme 9 Pro Plus have enough to create a buzz in the market especially when the game itself is banned in the country?

As for the price point, the Realme 9 Pro Plus Free Fire edition is expected to be available at a price similar to Realme 9 Pro Plus. Realme has previously done a similar experiment with the Dragon Ball themed Realme GT Neo 2

Talking about the specifications, Realme 9 Pro Plus features-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display paired with a 90Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor and has 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage.

Realme 9 Pro Plus rocks a triple rear camera including a 50MP primary shooter, 8MP secondary shooter, and a 2MP tertiary shooter. The smartphone flaunts a 16MP front sensor for the sake of selfies and video calls. It is powered by a 4500mAh battery along with 60W fast charging support.
