WhatsApp Group Polls UI revealed in new beta version
The feature is still a work in progress with no release date confirmed
While WhatsApp has already made Communities official, it is yet to finalise a release for the group polls feature that is still in beta testing. But it looks like the feature will also be arriving soon now that there is more information about how it will work.
In a recent post, WABetaInfo has provided us with a sneak peek at the group polls feature. The screenshots shared by the publication show the options available in a poll and a dynamic white bar below the options gives a pictorial representation of the percentage of votes received for each of the options.
As reported previously, the feature will restrict poll responses to a maximum of 12. There could be a possibility that the Meta-owned instant messaging app increases this in the future. The latest feature has been in development since last month and the report suggests that the feature is yet not ready for the final release. The latest progress on group polls is currently visible on WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.9.0.70.
WhatsApp has been testing many other new features over the past few months including bringing reactions to messages similar to the ones we’ve seen on Instagram. The biggest update however that would be rolling out would be the file-sharing limits of up to 2GB. Quite the most troubling downside of WhatsApp has been the limit to sharing files larger than 100MB and many competing apps have seen a rising number of users all because they offer a larger limit.
New privacy features too
The messaging app is also testing out additional privacy features that were previously only limited to the WhatsApp Status. Currently, it's possible to hide our profile picture and last seen either from all saved contacts or everyone on WhatsApp. But in a future update, it will become easier to limit them to selected saved contacts as well.
Similar to controlling who sees your WhatsApp Status, you can exclude selected saved contacts from viewing your profile picture, last seen status and the about section of your profile. At the same time, you won’t be able to view any of their information as well.
