Apple has raised the prices of all the AirPods that are currently available in India. The price hikes are visible on Apple’s online store for the AirPods 2nd and 3rd generation, AirPods Pro and the AirPods Max. Although the company has not officially confirmed the reason for the price hikes, a report by Telecom Talk suggests that it could be due to the increase in import duties.
Apple’s portfolio of audio accessories now seems even more expensive than it already was, especially in the case of the AirPods Max which now costs a whopping Rs 66,100. The higher-end headphones from Apple that were retailing for Rs 59,900 until yesterday is the only product that has seen the biggest hike of Rs 6,200.
The Cupertino giant has also raised prices for the AirPods 2nd generation and the recently launched AirPods 3rd generation by Rs 2,000. The entry-level 2nd generation TWS that retailed for Rs 12,900 will now be available for Rs 14,100. The 3rd generation AirPods that were available for Rs 18,500 now costs Rs 20,500.
The 3rd generation AirPods Pro has seen the lowest price hike of them all. Previously available at a price of Rs 24,900 on the online store, the company’s first TWS earbuds to bring active noise cancellation to the lineup are now retailing at Rs 26,300.
Offers are still on, for now
Although Apple updated the prices only on its official online website and store, Flipkart and Amazon continue to provide lucrative discounts on their platform. The AirPods Pro is available for as low as Rs 22,900 which comes with the MagSafe compatible charging case providing savings of up to Rs 3,400. This is the same model that retails on Apple’s official website as well. Amazon is also providing the AirPods Pro with a regular wireless charging compatible case at Rs 20,900.
Apple announced the 3rd generation AirPods in October last year with earbuds designed to share the aesthetics and features of the AirPods Pro. These AirPods come with active noise cancellation while retaining the comfort and fit of the original AirPods. Amazon continues to retail this model for Rs 17,990 saving you Rs 2,510.
It won’t be long before the e-commerce platforms update the prices to align with the original prices. The offers are on a ticking clock and if readers are thinking of getting any of Apple’s best TWS offerings, this would be the best time.
