Amid all the rumours of upcoming new and powerful Macs, Apple has announced a service program for Apple Watch Series 6. So, if the display on your Apple Watch Series 6 has gone permanently blank, then the company is servicing it for free.

However, according to Apple a very small percentage of 40mm Apple Watch Series 6 devices that have been manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021, are affected by this issue.

Although Apple suspects that the users impacted by the permanent bank display issue might not be many, however, the company says that the free service may only be available in the region where you bought the watch.

This program covers eligible Apple Watch Series 6 units for two years after its first retail date. Apple has asked the users to visit the website to check their eligibility for the service program.

In order to do so, you can visit this link and key in the serial number or the IMEI of your Apple Watch Series 6. The serial number or the IMEI can be generally found buried in the settings app of your Apple Watch where you need to find the About tab and scroll down to the bottom for the serial number or IMEI.

In case your watch’s display isn’t turning on, you can also find the serial number on the iPhone it has been paired with. You need to go to the Apple Watch app on the phone, then tap the My Watch tab and then tap General. The IMEI number of the watch will be listed under the About tab. Alternatively, you can also find the serial number on your watch case.

Once you’ve got hold of the digits, all you need to do is to enter them on Apple’s site and hit submit. If your watch is eligible for the service program, the website will further guide you about the service program.

The devices that are found to be eligible will be repaired free by Apple or an Apple authorised service provider.
