Left 4 Dead 3 seen and Oculus Rift ain't Doomed, but Nintendo makes us cry

But he's not the only one who thinks the console is pregnant with potential. Splinter Cell: Blacklist's Creative Director also told us this week that he believes the multiplatform title is at its most immersive on the Wii U.

Ubisoft is giving Nintendo's Wii successor a lot of love right now but considering the disappointing sale figures behind Wii U launch exclusive ZombiU, we'd say that the company will be closely watching the performance of Rayman and Splinter Cell to determine whether the pair have a bright future of working together ahead of them.

Amazon game console? That's bananas!

Yes, a new challenger may be entering the fray as Amazon has launched its own digital software store in the UK, offering PC and Mac games.

But if you thought it would be leaving the console space alone, you're having a laugh. Possibly. It all depends whether there's any truth to the word that Amazon is planning to take on Ouya with its own Android console.

If this is true, and if Amazon can take the success of the Kindle and see it matched in the console space, it could be onto a winner. We'll certainly be keeping a close eye on the jungle.

Doom-monger straps on Oculus

If you love Oculus Rift as much as we do - that's a lot, so we doubt it - then you might have heard that John Carmack of Doom and Quake fame has joined the Rift team as chief technology officer (CTO). Oculus is getting mad rep.

It's obviously great to see Rift getting such a big name attached, and who better to lead the way in the next era of first-person gaming? Carmack will, however, remain in a leadership role at Id Software at the same time.

Now you'll have to excuse us - Super Mario Bros 2 has hit the Wii U and 3DS virtual consoles and we are getting on it.

So to see us out, here are some links from around the Future web for your delectation.
