The Gujarat-based Greta Electric Scooters has released a teaser video of a new electric scooter that it is expected to launch soon. The details of the new model were unspecified in the tweet that the official social media accounts of the Greta Electric Scooters and its founder Raj Mehta put out yesterday. The teaser video was shared with the lines: "Something new in the anvil! We are really excited about this. Are you?? Follow this space for more updates".

The date of the launch of the vehicle is not known. But since a teaser has been put out, it is speculated that it would happen in a month or so.

Greta has its task cut out

Greta Electric Scooters specialises in mid-market offerings. All the vehicles from the company's stable are available in the range of Rs 60,000 to Rs 90,000. But it is not clear at which price point does the company wants to launch its new vehicle.

Last month, the company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Raj Electromotives from Gujarat, launched Greta Glide priced at Rs 80,000.

The company had last year introduced a four-model range of e-scooters called Harper, Evespa, Glide, and Harper ZX.

All the company's offerings so far come with DRL, EBS, reverse mode, ATA System, smart shift, Digital instrument cluster display, keyless start, disc brakes and anti-theft alarm.

Greta Electric Scooters was founded in 2019, and aside from electric scooters, the company offers conversion kits for pedal-operated bicycles, pedal rickshaws, tricycles for the specially-abled & bikes (India's first-ever Retro-Fitment kit) to electric.

Greta Electric Scooters says it received approval from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in late 2019 for its e-scooters. The company focuses on Tier-II cities in India, places where two-wheelers are the most popular forms of transport.

While Greta Electric Scooters has been in the news regularly, little is known about its technological tie-ups and its production details. Also, for a company that has been announcing launch of vehicles periodically, its social media handles (Twitter specifically) do not have many followers. Something doesn't seem to add up there. It suggests that the company has to get its act together before making further headway in what is proving to be a highly competitive market.
