Hear what your music should sound like with Bowers & Wilkins headphones
Wouldn’t it be great if you could hear your favourite music on the same equipment your favourite artists made it with, and hear it exactly as the artist intended? With Bowers & Wilkins, you can.
For decades, Bowers & Wilkins has been trusted by music professionals the world over to deliver the most detailed, natural, and realistic sound possible. It has been the reference speaker brand of choice for some of the world’s leading recording studios and musicians, and has a long-standing relationship with Abbey Road Studios, where its flagship 801 D4 loudspeakers take pride of place in front of the mixing desk.
This means that some of the most iconic albums and movie soundtracks of all time were first heard on Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers. The technology and engineering expertise utilised for this range also cascade through every product the brand makes, which puts it in a unique position to deliver a listening experience that brings you closer to what the artist intended.
In keeping with that tradition of bringing you closer to the ‘True Sound’ of the performance, Bowers & Wilkins collaborated with Wolf Alice and Moses Boyd for the launch of its new Px7 S2 and Px8 wireless headphones respectively. Both artists are equally renowned for peerless performance and craft and are revered by those who know music best. They also have a strong connection with the Mercury Prize, where Bowers & Wilkins is a long-term partner and supporter of the prestigious music awards, with Wolf Alice winning in 2018 and Moses Boyd shortlisted in 2020.
For James Bond fans, Bowers & Wilkins has recently taken its flagship Px8 headphones one step further with a specially created model, the Px8 007 Edition, inspired by the Midnight Blue dinner jacket worn by James Bond during his first on-screen appearance in Dr. No in 962.
Let’s get into a bit more detail on the headphones themselves.
Sounds like no other: the award-winning Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2
The Px7 S2 headphones bring you closer than ever to the original recording, enabling you to hear the music just as the artists intended. With six microphones for outstanding noise cancellation the Px7 S2s cancel ambient noise so that you can focus on the music – and with custom-designed 40mm drive units carefully angled inside each ear cup for a truly focused and immersive listening experience, these Bowers & Wilkins headphones deliver a truly detailed, natural and immersive sound.
The Px7 S2 don’t just offer exceptional sound, they are full of premium design details. Thanks to the carefully selected materials, refined design and luxurious memory foam ear pads, they’re supremely comfortable for even the longest of listening sessions.
Bowers & Wilkins flagship wireless headphones: the reference-quality Px8
The new Bowers & Wilkins Px8 raises the bar for high quality sound. With a high resolution 24-bit digital signal processor, plus precisely angled Carbon Cone drive units inspired by the brand’s award-winning 700 Series range of loudspeakers delivering reduced distortion and significantly improved clarity, the Px8s deliver truly unprecedented levels of immersion and realism.
Advanced proprietary noise cancellation technology helps to eliminate unwanted noises without impacting the musicality of the performance. With support for high resolution streaming, including aptX Adaptive technology, these headphones sound spectacular with high resolution audio streams – and with 30 hours of battery life, you can stream for more than a day without needing to recharge.
With the Px8, the luxury extends beyond the exquisite audio performance: fine Nappa leather trim, beautiful diecast aluminium arms, and bright diamond cut detailing combine to make the Px8 every bit as desirable to wear as they are to listen to.
Introducing the Px8 007 Edition
Bowers & Wilkins association with the James Bond film franchise is intertwined with its 40-year relationship with Abbey Road Studios, where its flagship 800 Series loudspeakers have been used to monitor the recording of countless film scores, including Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). And more recently, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise, Abbey Road Studios engineers used Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers to help create Bond 25, an album featuring all 25 iconic Bond themes with brand new arrangements recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Abbey Road Studio One.
With the Px8 007 Edition, Bowers & Wilkins iconic headphones have been specially created to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the James Bond film franchise. The Px8 007 Edition is finished in Midnight Blue Nappa leather inspired by the dinner jacket worn by James Bond in his first ever on-screen appearance for 1962’s Dr. No.
The Px8 007 features subtle references to James Bond with a laser etched 007 logo on the top of the earcup and a unique red power slider, inspired by the red dress worn by Sylvia Trench in Dr.No. And if you take a closer look, you’ll discover the iconic Gun Barrel logo, synonymous with the James Bond film opening sequence, found on the inside of each earcup.
