After Amazon previously hinted at the imminent launch of Honor's new laptop series a few weeks back, the MagicBook X 14 and MagicBook X 15 went on sale today on the e-commerce website from a starting price of Rs 38,990 with the highest i5 variant available for Rs 46,990.
The Honor MagicBook X series of laptops are available in two sizes - 14-inch and 15-inch displays. Huawei’s sub-brand has been away from the Indian market for quite a while and it's interesting to see their return.
Honor’s MagicBook X 14 comes with an Intel Core i3-10110U chipset clubbed with 8GB RAM and 256GB of PCIe SSD storage. It is also available with an Intel Core i5-10210U chipset clubbed with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. The laptop sports a 14-inch IPS FullHD display. In terms of battery life, the MagicBook X 14 comes with a 56Wh battery capacity which the company claims to provide up to 13 hours of usage.
The MagicBook X 15 on the other hand is available only with the Intel Core i3-10110U chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. The laptop features a 15.6-inch IPS FullHD display and comes with a 42Wh battery pack. According to the company, the laptop is rated to provide up to 7.8 hours of usage on a full charge.
Both MagicBook X14 and the MagicBook X 15 come in an aluminium chassis and feature an Anti-Glare display which reduces reflections. The laptops also come with a 720p pop-up webcam with flash that is integrated into the top row of the backlit keyboard. The fingerprint scanner at the top right corner doubles up as the power button as well.
When it comes to connectivity, both the laptops come with USB 3.0 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI port and a Type-C port. The MagicBook X 14 and MagicBook X 15 laptops can be charged via a 67W Type-C PD charger which can be used for other Type-C devices as well.

Looks good, but could have offered better
At the base price of Rs 38,000 for the Intel i3 chipset, the MagicBook X 14 comes in close competition with many mid-range premium laptops. However, it would have been better if Honor could launch more updated premium products with 11th generation Intel chipsets with similar design and build to compete with bigger brands.

Even Xiaomi’s Redmi Book Pro comes with a 15.6-inch display with an 11th Gen i5 processor and costs as much as Honor’s MagicBook X 14’s i5 variant. The HP 14s with identical features as the base variant of the MagicBook also comes with Intel’s 11th Gen i3 processor making it a better choice over Honor’s offering.
