How TCS is going the extra mile in the UK
TCS goes the distance to support the UK by becoming title partner of the London Marathon for 2022
It's fair to say that the last year or so has been like nothing any of us had ever expected, with huge changes affecting everyone in both their work and personal lives.
A lack of community contact has been one of the most difficult aspects for many people, with lockdown and shielding affecting millions across the country. But it's important to remember that our communities are still an important part of who we are, and that we all have a role to play in supporting them.
This responsibility extends to the businesses in the community, and TCS has been at the forefront of efforts to try to support and give back to the communities it operates in during this most difficult of times.
Having operated in the UK for 45 years, TCS is an integral part of the UK IT economy having added more than 7,000 employees, including 1,800 trainees, over the past five years. Making sure colleagues stay engaged at work is vital, and physical health and exercise can play a key role in this, which is why TCS is committed to promoting wellness through technology.
TCS' Fit4Life health scheme sees the company make a donation to charity for every kilometre run or walked, and every hour of fitness completed by its employees. Teams can sign up for specific challenges, raise money, and even win fabulous prizes - all in the name of fitness.
Today, TCS is announcing its expanded role as the title partner for the London Marathon. Having worked with the iconic event since 2016 as Official Technology Partner, TCS has played a vital part over the past six years in helping runners and their supporters prepare, follow, and participate in one of the world's largest mass participation sporting events.
Like so many other events, the 2020 London Marathon was sadly affected due to the coronavirus pandemic, but TCS helped the organisers make the virtual replacement event as engaging as possible using the official London Marathon mobile app.
Downloaded by over 37,000 participants, the app was the only way to officially take part in the virtual event, allowing friends and colleagues of the runners to track progress wherever runners chose to do their 26.2 mile route. TCS is also aiming to make the London Marathon smarter than ever before, with a new unified data platform making everything behind the scenes run even more smoothly.
So you can be sure that when it comes to helping inspire keen marathon runners, everyday joggers and just those wanting to keep fit and healthy, TCS is ready to go the extra mile.
