How to catch Mammootty's Malayalam movie Puzhu on OTT
It's a direct-on-streamer release
The trailer of Mammootty new movie Puzhu (it means 'worm') has arrived. Along with it, the makers, who had earlier made it known that it would be a direct-on-OTT release, also confirmed the date of its streaming.
Puzhu, which is Mammootty's third release of the year, will start streaming on SonyLIV from May 13. His previous two films are Bheeshma Paruvam and the just released in theatres CBI 5: The Brain (The fifth part of his hugely successful CBI Diary Kurippu franchise).
Puzhu, which is Mammootty's first direct OTT release, will stream in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Parvathy Thiruvothu and Athmiya Rajan, Indrans and Nedumudi Venu are also in the cast.
A film on dad-son relationship
Puzhu marks the debut of Ratheena PT, who worked as an executive producer in the film Uyare. The trailer suggests the film to be a thriller, but also seems to be the psychological issues a kid faces under stentorian dad. Mammootty is one playing the tough-as-nails dad. The trailer shows the boy shooting his arrow gun straight on the father's face in a photo. Soon the boy seems to face a dangerous accident but somehow survives. We see him getting involved in a mishap, but just then someone suggests that it was a murder attempt.
Interestingly, the film is produced by Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan and S George’s Cyn Cyl Celluloid. Even though Dulquer Salmaan has become a regular producer, this is the first time he is part of his dad's film as one. The movie is jointly written by Harshad, who has also come up with the story, and the screenwriter duo Suhas-Sharfu. The duo is known for their work in acclaimed films like Varathan and Virus.
Parvathy is also working with Mammootty for the first time. She had courted infamous publicity after criticising some scenes in the 2017 movie Kasaba, which had Mammootty as the lead. Parvathy had termed the scenes misogynic and requested actors to refrain from doing such scenes.
