Huawei P30 Pro - a superpower even 18 months after it arrived

Performance

The Huawei P30 Pro is a beast in terms of sheer processing power. The unit we have is maxed out at 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. I’ve been impressed by the optimized Huawei user interface as I don’t remember facing any lag or force-stopped apps. The daily tasks like browsing, messaging, calling, and videos, are just fun on the Huawei P30 Pro as the CPU just breezes through them. I’m not the one to gauge performance with benchmark apps and I’m going to tell you that you won’t need to do it on the Huawei P30 Pro.

Even CPU-intensive stuff like games work really well without any hiccups on the Huawei P30 Pro. CoD Mobile runs at maximum settings and you’ll be able to do the same with PUBG. I rarely faced any stutters during my gameplay. What’s even more interesting about the Kirin 980 processor is that it doesn’t slow down over time with all the baggage building up in your phone storage. This makes it a good recommendation for long-term phone users as the Huawei P30 Pro holds its own against the test of time.

As far as audio quality and call quality goes, it hasn’t changed over time. Calls are pretty clear even though the earpiece isn’t your traditional grill on the top and the cellular reception on my carrier has been great as well. The speaker grill at the bottom gets adequately loud at the highest volume, but it’s nothing special. You’ll find it gets the job done in the bedroom and living room with a few people talking.

The lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack has been particularly nagging to me personally although I do have wireless earbuds lying around. However, it’s now a norm in the flagship segment and there’s nothing that can be done.

Battery life

Battery life is one of the key areas of concern when it comes to a smartphone’s longevity. And the Huawei P30 Pro aces this test very well. This is partially helped by a relatively big 4,200mAh battery which was one of the biggest on the flagships at its time and partially by the 40W fast charging feature.

In my experience, the Huawei P30 Pro lasted me a full day of work regularly with juice left in the tank. And this has been the case even after I’ve been using it for more than three months. My regular usage typically includes a lot of social media browsing, messaging, and YouTube videos mostly. At times, I even got to 9 hrs of SoT (with restrained use) as well which is phenomenal. Although, battery life is a very subjective topic and that is why I’ll leave some screenshots for you to draw your own conclusions. So, whether it be heavy use or just average daily activity, the Huawei P30 Pro won’t fail you. And what’s more impressive is that there has been no discernable depreciation in battery life even after six months of use.
