OnePlus is set to host a launch event where the company will introduce a couple of smartphones and a pair of earbuds. While the company has already confirmed that the phones debuting in India on April 28 are the OnePlus 10R and the affordable OnePlus Nord 2 CE Lite, the smartphone maker has revealed key details about the upcoming earbuds too.

These TWS will be called Nord Buds and will be the first-ever earbuds under the Nord lineup. Interestingly, these buds will carry a different moniker - OnePlus Buds N in China. This is similar to the OnePlus 10R which will be called the OnePlus Ace back home. The Chinese launch is set for April 21 while the launch in India will happen a week later.

Based on what the company has shared already, we know that these buds will come in two colour options – Black and White and the case will carry a boxy design. The buds on the other hand will carry a dual-tone design with a flat design and semi-in ear styling.

The Nord Buds are said to come with 12.4mm drivers which is similar to the recently launched Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro earbuds. Rumours hint that the Nord Buds might come with a 480 mAh battery and USB Type C for charging. It goes without saying that the charging case will support fast charging – as that has been a staple feature in most OnePlus devices.

The landing page on OnePlus India’s website also hints that the buds might offer water resistance and Active Noise cancellation. These features will be revealed gradually to build hype for the impending launch.

Too many launch events to introduce too many devices

OnePlus had a handful of devices launching throughout the year. This helped the company offer exceptional support and flagship features. It also allowed the smartphone maker to test software updates thoroughly and still offer them faster than any other brand.

The new OnePlus, on the other hand, is hosting launch events at a breakneck speed and is introducing multiple products in each. Agreed that the company has expanded in categories already, however, at the expense of customer experience.

At the risk of being repetitive, we dare say that the OnePlus might be looking to offer multiple choices to customers at almost every price point. However, the difference between the OnePlus and other devices under the same umbrella-like Oppo and Realme has narrowed down drastically. And in the case of the OnePlus 10R and Realme GT Neo 3, it’s just a difference of just one day i.e. The OnePlus 10R, which is a rebranded version of Realme GT Neo 3, is launching a day ahead of the latter.
