Oppo’s latest K lineup has just got a couple of devices - one each in China and one in India. Now it is being reported that the smartphone maker is looking to develop this lineup with phones available at different price points.

A known tipster, Digital Chat Station, has recently revealed that a device in the Oppo K10 lineup is expected to launch later this month in China.

According to the rumours that we’ve heard till now, the company is expected to launch two different devices soon – Oppo K10 and Oppo K10 Pro. While the K10 is expected to sport the Dimensity 8000 chipset, the Pro might come with a Dimensity 8100 SoC.

Earlier, the company had revealed that the first phone with a Dimensity 8000 SoC would be introduced under the K10 lineup. Perhaps the same phone is inching closer to a launch now.

A recent certification listing revealed that the phone might come with 80W fast charging – a standard that had been reserved for Oppo and OnePlus flagship phones till recently. It is expected that the K10 devices could be priced similar to an affordable flagship device.

The phones in this upcoming lineup are not to be confused with the Oppo K10 smartphone that was recently launched in India. We might have to wait for the brand to announce its plans around introducing the phones in the international markets.

There is a probability that we might see the Chinese variants of the Oppo K10 lineup launch in global markets with totally different monikers for different markets – a treatment that the brand has meted out to the Oppo F21 Pro and the Oppo Reno 7 4G.

Competition with Qualcomm intensifies

While the Dimensity 9000 lineup is MediaTek’s flagship mobile chipset currently, the 8000 series is comparable to last years’ Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 888 Plus from Qualcomm.

MediaTek’s officials have hinted that the SoCs are at par with the counterparts from Snapdragon, however, they are quick to hint that these new MediaTek SoCs are less power-hungry and are more power-efficient.

These new chipsets are expected to be slightly more in comparison to the direct competition which might help bring the cost of smartphones down. Notably, the prices of phones have seen an uptick in the last year and a half due to the ongoing chipset shortage and the supply chain limitations as well.
