AT&T bulks up on international LTE roaming in 13 more countries
New International Travel app keeps tabs on global roaming
Aside from the exorbitant cost, slow data speeds often make overseas travel kind of a bummer. Thankfully AT&T is working to quickly change that, assuming your destination is one of the 15 countries now covered by the carrier's LTE roaming.
AT&T announced the launch of 4G LTE data roaming in 13 additional countries today, and is offering a way for travelers to better monitor their global usage with a new iOS and Android app.
After becoming the first and only US carrier to offer international LTE data roaming in Canada and the UK late last year, AT&T has now increased the total number to 15 during this week's Mobile World Congress 2014 conference in Barcelona.
In addition to MWC 2014's home turf of Spain, AT&T's global LTE roaming service is now available in France, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Guam, Hong Kong and Antigua & Barbuda.
Roam where you want to
Once again proving there's an app for every need, AT&T has also introduced the International Travel app, which is now available on both the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android customers.
AT&T International Travel allows subscribers to keep tabs on their international roaming package, tracking estimated data and messaging usage while abroad.
The free app can also notify customers when they're about to use up available minutes, data or text messages while traveling, and alerts can be customized by the user for almost any scenario.
