You would have thought that if a camera can record video continuously for 30 minutes that it would be able to keep going – yet many consumer cameras have this limit. In fact, it's not a technical restriction but a statutory one. If the camera can record clips of more than 30 seconds its status as a recording device changes and it's subject to a higher rate of duty.
