Poco is said to be working on a new budget smartphone named Poco C40. This upcoming phone has already been spotted on the FCC certification website acquiring mandatory certifications ahead of its launch.

In a report published by XDA developers, it has been said that the device is going to offer a completely new experience in terms of performance and operating system. This could be interesting as most Poco phones have been rebadged Xiaomi or Redmi devices, however, the Poco C40 is expected to be a unique device made for Poco.

The same report suggests that the smartphone will include a JR510 processor. This is an entry level chipset that most of us might not have heard of.  It will also feature a stripped down version of MIUI dubbed MIUI Go.

Going with what we've read, MIUI Go could be based on the Android Go which serves the purpose of running heavy applications on entry-level devices. It, alternatively, could also be a version of MIUI but without any heavy animations and graphics.

The MIUI Go edition Operating system will discard a few features that we see in the MIUI OS like the floating windows and Game Turbo to optimize the performance of smartphones having low RAM capacity and an average processor.

It was initially reported that the upcoming smartphone by Poco is going to be a replica of the Redmi 10C and it will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, the reports hinting at the presence of the JR510 processor have diminished the chances of the smartphone being a rebadged one.

MIUI Go edition details

The MIUI Go edition made its first appearance via a flag, IS_MIUI_GO_VERSION, that was added to the MIUI firmware. Previously, another flag, IS_MIUI_LITE_VERSION is used to limit certain features.

Talking specifically about the Poco C40, there is no other information available regarding the smartphone at this point in time. We can expect more details coming our way as soon as the launch of the smartphone approaches.

This is not happening for the first time, in the past, Realme has introduced the Realme C31 in India that ships with the Realme UI R skin based on the Android 11 operating system instead of the primary Realme skin.
