Vivo Y21G price and availability

The Vivo Y21G is available for Rs 13,990 on the official Vivo online store. In terms of variants, the smartphone comes only with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. You can get the Y21G in Midnight Blue and Diamond Glow colours.

Vivo Y21G specifications

The Vivo Y21G comes with the MediaTek MT6769 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Like many other Android smartphones in the market, you extend the RAM by 1GB. However, compared to the competition this is less and is possibly a limitation of the chipset.

You also get a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens on the rear of the device while the front sports an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The Y21G comes with a 6.51-inch HD+ LCD display with a waterdrop notch that houses the selfie camera. The smartphone also includes Bluetooth 5.0, dual sim support and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button.

The Vivo Y1G runs on FunTouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11 out of the box. All the internal hardware of the smartphone is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery pack that supports 18W Type-C fast charging as well. Other features include dual-band WiFi and expandable storage via microSD.

A budget phone that's not so appealing

Although the pricing is valid when you take into consideration all the specifications, the Y21G is not appealing until you compare it with the Redmi Note 11 which comes with a high refresh rate AMOLED display and comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset. Spending an additional Rs 508 can get you the Redmi Note 11 with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage and still be value for money.

While Vivo has got good products at higher price brackets, it could work on budget devices going forward to bring must-have features. Many companies continue to bring premium features like AMOLED displays with high brightness and adaptive refresh rates to their budget devices. And it is expected that this could be a trend prevalent in 2022.
