In its biggest launch event in the country, smartphone maker Xiaomi announced its flagship phone - Xiaomi 12 Pro apart from the Xiaomi Pad 5, its new smart TV range and others. The phone was first introduced in China late last year before being made available in the international markets.

The 12 Pro is not only Xiaomi’s first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC at its core but is also its marquee product till the time the mythical Xiaomi 12 Ultra debuts.

Talking about the Xiaomi 12 Pro, it comes in three colour variants – Noir Black, Opera Mauve, Couture Blue and the rear panel of the phone carries a velvet matte finish that not only keeps the fingerprints and smudges at bay but also offers a satisfactory grip to the phone.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is a successor to the Xiaomi 11 lineup that did fairly well in India and helped the company mark its authority in the upper-mid price range. The Xiaomi 12 Pro, however, is quite different from the phone that the company launched last year – primarily because the latest device offers almost everything that a true flagship is meant to.

The phone comes with top-of-the-line specifications – including Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protected  6.7-inch E5 AMOLED panel boasting 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset at its core and a 4,600mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. Thankfully, Xiaomi is shipping the charger along with the device.

This is a no-compromise flagship approach by Xiaomi also that there is an extra focus on the design as well as camera specifications. While the rear panel has a minimalistic design, the minimal bezels on the display are also worth noticing.

Talking about the camera specs, the phone comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 50 MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor that comes with f/1.9 aperture and OIS, a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with ultra-wide-angle lens boasting 115-degree FoV, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. A 32 MP front-facing camera is present under the hole-punch cut-out for selfies and video chats.

The phone ships with Android 12 powered MIUI 13 out of the box - with a promise of 3 years of software and 4 years of security updates.
