It's official: Thor: Love and Thunder is coming to Disney Plus soon. And, by soon, we mean very soon.
The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie will join its superhero film brethren on Disney Plus in early September. That's later than we had expected, too – we originally predicted that Thor: Love and Thunder would land on Disney's streaming service in mid-August. Still, with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law recently launching on Disney Plus – check out our spoiler-free She-Hulk review while you're here – it gives the MCU's latest TV series a bit of breathing room before Thor 4 bolts on the streaming platform.
But you're not here for Marvel's latest mean, green machine, are you? You want to know when Thor: Love and Thunder – check out our spoiler-free Thor 4 review, too – will make landfall on Disney Plus. Below, we'll tell you exactly when Thor: Love and Thunder storms onto the streamer, as well as providing some additional context, such as how long its runtime is, to answer all of your needs ahead of time.
Here, then, is when Thor: Love and Thunder arrives on Disney Plus.
What date is Thor 4 being released on Disney Plus?
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released on Disney Plus on Thursday, September 8. The announcement was made in a Disney press release, but Thor star Chris Hemsworth also took to social media to confirm its official launch date. That's a worldwide release, too. No matter where you live, then, as long as Disney Plus is available in your world region, you'll be able to stream Thor 4 on that date.
As we mentioned, we had expected Thor's latest solo superhero movie to arrive in mid-August. That was based on when previous MCU films launched on the streaming service, which was usually 60-70 days – Doctor Strange 2, aside – after their release in theaters.
However, our prediction would have meant Thor 4 launching around the same time as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Marvel and Disney wouldn't want two MCU projects to be released simultaneously on Disney Plus, so it makes sense that Thor: Love and Thunder's Disney Plus release has been held back.

Regardless, Thor 4 is on its way to Disney's streaming platform. It just so happens that its arrival coincides with Disney Plus Day, too – the annual celebration of the streaming service, which will see the launch of other Disney Plus shows, such as Cars on the Road (a spin-off from the beloved Pixar movie series), the premiere of Disney's live-action remake of Pinocchio, and more.
Disney Plus Day will kick off a weekend of Disney-related events, too, with D23 Expo set to take place in California over the weekend of September 9-11. Expect more news on forthcoming Marvel projects, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Marvel Phase 5 productions.
How long is Thor: Love and Thunder's runtime?
You don't need to set aside three hours-plus to watch Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney Plus.
The god of thunder's latest cinematic outing runs for just shy of two hours (1 hour 58 minutes, to be exact), making it the shortest MCU Phase 4 movie yet. It's also the seventh shortest Marvel film of all-time, too.
Funnily enough, three of the seven Marvel movies that run for less than two hours are Thor films. Thor: The Dark World ran for one hour 52 minutes, while the first Thor movie clocked in at one hour 55 minutes. Thor: Ragnarok is the Norse god's only solo flick to exceed two hours; the superhero film racking up a runtime of two hours 10 minutes.
Does Thor: Love and Thunder have a post-credits scene?
Yes, Thor: Love and Thunder has two post-credits scenes. Well, technically there's a mid-credits and post-credits scene – just like most other MCU movies – but we're splitting hairs.
We've already covered what Thor: Love and Thunder's ending and post-credits scenes mean for the character's cinematic future and the MCU overall. Read our ending and post-credits scenes explainer article for more details on those fronts. There are major Thor 4 spoilers within that article, though, so open it at your own risk if you haven't seen the film yet.
