At a quick glance you might shrug that the Galaxy Z Flip 6's specs are but a small boost over that of the Flip 5; mainly a new chip. But there's more to the new Flip's specs than meets the eye.

First off, that new Snapdragon chip offers a boost in performance across the board, but also has the same AI engine as the Galaxy S24 meaning its got the chops to handle all manner of AI workloads. That's handy as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 comes preloaded with Galaxy AI features such as Generative Edit, along with smart features customized for the flip format.

On top of that, the Flip 6 gets the first vapour chamber cooling system for a Flip phone, and one that's 150% larger than that of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. So that should help the Flip 6 handle demanding workloads and intensive gaming for longer.

Another core upgrade is the Galaxy Z Flip 6 now has a 50-megapixel main camera, which means it can capture a lot more image data for smart photo processing to feed upon and produce pleasing photography. But there's also a stealth upgrade in that the 12MP ultra-wide camera has been upgraded to better handle low-light photography and support HDR capture. Furthermore, night mode on the cameras has been boosted due to a dedicated image signaling processing block.

On top of all of this, the hinge of the Flip 6 has been improved to better handle shocks, pressure and sharp object, giving the phone a durability boost.

These specs combined with AI tools all help the justify the Galaxy Z Flip 6's price and could help it secure a position as the foldable phone of 2024. Check out our hands-on Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 review for our initial impressions of the flipping foldable phone.
