Why you can trust TechRadar
COLOUR: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 has done a decent job of faithfully capturing the subtle colours of this lakeside autumn sunset.
FOCUS: The ability to touch the screen and set the focus point is very useful when presented with potentially confusing scenes with objects in the foreground.
METERING: The metering system has accurately exposed this high contrast scene and there's plenty of detail in the dark areas of our subject.
DETAIL: In spite of the overcast conditions, the GX1 has saturated the colours just enough to give them a lift, while we were pleased to note that there's some detail retained in what could have ended up as an overexposed, white sky.
TOY CAMERA: The GX1's Toy Camera creative effect adds a dark vignette around the edges of the frame, presenting the opportunity to create some moody shots.
SHARP: At ISO 1600 there's a little visible noise, but plenty of sharp detail is recorded and colours remain punchy.
