Battery

OnePlus 7 has the same 3,700mAh battery like the one found on the 6T. It supports 20W fast charging and comes with a Dash Charge adapter in-the-box.

In my use case, the OnePlus 7 lasted for a day and then some. But in many cases, such as if you play games, mostly the phone would require some juice to go on for the rest of the day.

Unlike the Pro variant with a larger battery which also powers the 90Hz display, the OnePlus 7 conserves this power coupled with the fact that Snapdragon 855 is also a more power efficient SoC.

All of this gives the OnePlus 7 its long-lasting battery life that should suffice most users.

Verdict

Wondering if you should or shouldn't go for the OnePlus 7? Having been using the phone from the past few days, I've come to realize the small tidbits that make this one of the more balanced offerings by a company in this range.

Really, the only pet peeve I have with it is that you no longer get the Type-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter with the retail unit. I get that OnePlus is trying to push us towards using their Wireless Bullets but a majority of the Indian populace still use wired earphones and it would have been nice of the company to bundle it along with the unit just like it did with the 6T.

OnePlus sure could have done things in a better way but the same can largely be said for every other smartphone that is in the vicinity of the OnePlus 7. Samsung and Huawei could have improved the whole experience of using the S10 and P30 Pro and Google could have provided more RAM to better optimize applications and general usability on the Pixel devices. But that isn’t the case and we get what we get.

OnePlus 7 is the most balanced smartphone that would appeal to most users as it keeps the basics at the helm of things. Then there’s the Pro version that offers a superior experience for users who can afford to pay the premium. If you’ve already got a taste of the OnePlus medicine, you’re likely to budge for the latter even though the OnePlus 7 stands its ground firmly, head still held high.
