Why you can trust TechRadar
Verdict
The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is a stylish phone – between its sleek, flat look, asymmetrical pop-up section and delicate back colors, it looks great – and, surprisingly for a Chinese smartphone with a unique UI, its software is good to look at too.
The device also has a great camera, impressive processing power, and a battery that’ll give you no problems – it’s hard to find a fault with this phone.
You might have trouble with its hefty weight, or its large size, but if you’re looking for a large device this is one of the best you can buy.
And, while we’re not subtracting points for the confusing name, if you’re a purist for smartphone naming conventions, that 10x Zoom bit may irk you.
Who's it for?
Oppo is aiming at a teen audience with the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, but there’s no way this phone isn’t great for all audiences – if you can ignore the slew of pre-installed apps, which seem intended for the younger audience.
Should I buy it?
For its size and specs, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is quite an affordable device, and you could do a lot worse than spending your money on this stylish phone.
Competition
Oppo Reno
Don't think you need 10x zoom? The base Oppo Reno is a specc'd down version of the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom with only two cameras, a smaller screen, and a lower battery capacity, but in many ways it's the same phone, and it retains the sleek look of the 10x Zoom.

Honor 20 Pro
Another phone for the 'youth' audience, the Honor 20 Pro has a quad-camera rear array, similar specs to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, and snappy side fingerprint sensor. It's not got a fun pop-up slider, and instead uses a 'punch-hole' in the screen for front pictures.

OnePlus 7 Pro
Perhaps one of the most similar smartphones to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is the OnePlus 7 Pro. Both phones have 3-camera rear setups, 'pop-up' selfie cameras, and cutting-edge specs.
In fact, in most ways the devices have a lot in common, including the price points both sit at, so in many ways the OnePlus 7 Pro could be the Reno's closest competitor.
