AOC has borrowed quite a few ideas from competing manufacturers of G-Sync gaming displays for the AG271QG, to good effect, since the vast majority of features are present here. Yes, it's expensive, but all 144Hz IPS G-Sync displays carry a considerable sum. It's in games where you'll see where the extra money went with the AG271QG. The high refresh rate allows titles to shine, and we liked the little extras such as the meaurement scale on the stand.

On similar high-end gaming displays from Asus and Acer, there are a few more gaming-related features, such as an on-screen crosshairs for aiming assistance and frame rate counters, which are not exactly crucial, but are a satisfying addition that is lacking from the AG271QG. For the price tag, we could've expected a little more in this area.
Final verdict
Do you go with AOC, or a rival firm such as Acer or Asus? The AG271QG matches its competitors in both gaming performance and picture quality, and has a very sleek, attractive design. The menus could be just slightly improved, but aside from that very minor hiccup, AOC has done exceptionally well here.
It does just what it says on the tin, with fast G-Sync performance when gaming at either its native 144Hz refresh rate or the overclocked 165Hz. In truth, it's hard to see any difference from the faster refresh rate, but both are significantly improved on standard 60Hz displays.
