Verdict

HP officejet pro 8500a plus

The Officejet Pro 8500A Plus is expensive for an A4 inkjet, but given the feature set, it isn't overpriced. Its ePrint function has clearly increased the cost, so if printing documents by emailing them to your printer from any email-capable device doesn't interest you, a cheaper HP Officejet might be better suited to your needs.

We liked

The feature set is excellent. HP's new ePrint service is surprisingly easy to set up and use, and will prove especially popular with those who need to print from mobile devices.
Print quality is very good. Although default-setting plain-paper photo prints are weak compared to a HP Photosmart printer, photo-paper prints and text documents print very well. It's fast, too.

We disliked

Once again, if you're not interested in ePrint, you could save a few quid by buying a different Officejet printer. It's a pity there's no sheet feeder at the rear of the printer so you could print an envelope or photo without opening the paper tray. We wish was a second paper tray out of the box too, but you can add one as an optional extra if you wish.

Verdict

The Officejet Pro 8500A Plus is a feature-packed and capable printer. There are cheaper options, but if ePrint sounds attractive and you're prepared to spend a little more, this model won't let you down.
