Black Friday's here! These are the best deals on headphones, with rock-bottom prices on Sony over-ears and more
Black Friday is here and further over-ear discounts have landed!
Greetings, deals shopper! You've come here (smart choice, by the way) because the Black Friday deals machine is in full swing. It's on folks – no more sleeps!
Black Friday headphones deals are always big sell-out items, and when they literally deliver music to your ears, it's not hard to see why.
If you want to shop specific retailers the US, Best Buy's Black Friday deals started back on November 8th, while Walmart's Black Friday deals followed soon after, on November 11th. In the UK, Currys and Argos have particularly tasty Black Friday sales too.
We've sifted through the lot; these are the best Black Friday headphones deals live on the big day, only on brands and models we rate highly. The list is growing as prices are further slashed (and diminishing as they inevitably sell out) but you, dear shopper, are very wise to stick with us – it's a good one this year!
Oh, and if you wanted earbuds specifically (rather than headphones), I've got a dedicated guide to the best Black Friday earbuds deals around too. My pleasure!
Best Black Friday headphones deals, US
- Amazon: great deals on Bowers & Wilkins, Beats and Bose
- Best Buy: huge Shokz and Beats deals live now
- Target: big savings on JBL, JLab, Bose & Beats
- Walmart: huge price cuts on trusted headphones brands
★★★★★ rating! Let's face it, despite the waves of newer headphones available today, these icons remain an excellent set of wireless cans – and although the newer XM5s sound just that tiny bit better, it's a closely run race. These hugely popular over-ear headphones are sonically gifted, boast excellent ANC and, unlike their younger siblings, fold up for easier transportation in their included travel case. Oh, and this is a return to the cheapest they've ever been. If you need a modern classic in your life, now is the time.
★★★★★ rating! Quite simply the best in Sony's class-leading wireless over-ear lineup. The older XM4 headphones were outstanding, the XM3 cans before it were excellent, and it'll come as little surprise to know that Sony's XM5 proposition is also incredibly hard to beat – especially with a whopping 25% off, equalling their lowest-ever price! They don't fold up like the XM4 but, as a quick glance at our Sony WH-100XM5 review proves, there's not much else to pick fault with.
How about a pair of stunning elite headphones that sound even better than they look? The audio performance is nothing short of excellent (you can read about it in my Bowers & Wilkins PX8 review) and the only real obstacle where B&W cans are concerned has long been the price. At these asking fees though, they're incredibly tempting…
Sonos' inaugural over-ears are a no-brainer if you've got a Sonos Arc soundbar (with support for more Sonos soundbars to come), because that means incredibly detailed, immersive, head-tracked spatial audio for your movies and shows. We think at this price, they're far more competitive too. Will they dip an extra $20 (to their lowest ever price, seen oh-so-briefly in September)? We can't say for sure, but this $100 discount is not to be sniffed at – not for high-end headphones such as these.
★★★★★ rating! We called these headphones 'incredible value' even at their original MSRP thanks to their excellent sound quality, solid ANC, novel voice prompts (select 'Southwark' and you get Matt Berry to tell you whether you've deployed noise canceling) and a modular design that means you'll even be able to switch out the battery when the time comes. They made their debut on July 15, 2024 and honestly, they wowed the team. Highly recommended at this new lowest-seen price.
A $100 discount is the biggest we've ever seen on these incredible headphones, matching their lowest price to date. With incredible sound quality, supreme comfort, and unrivalled active noise cancellation, you're guaranteed an incredible listening experience.
Want seriously gorgeous-looking cans that are barely a year old and now at their their lowest-ever price? Oh, and from a trusted name in hi-fi? You just found them. These September 2023 release over-ears (a small update on the excellent June 2022 Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2) feature ANC via the total of six mics and, as long as the 'cloud gray' or 'forest green' colorways suit (the other finishes are also on offer, but for $279) an incredible saving.
This is Sony's mid-range over-ear option, and for those who want a few choice Sony flagship perks for non-flagship money, they're a great option. The sound profile will suit listeners who are all about that bass, and combined with the oh-so-Sony build quality, reliable ANC and this 26% discount, they're a proper contender.
★★★★★ rating! While we'd seen them selling for as little as $199.95 very briefly, this price is still 39% off the MSRP and well worth a mention! Their 60-hour battery life is just one of the reasons they achieved a rare five-star review at TechRadar – most rival pairs simply don’t come close. A solid buy for this money. Will they dip just a tiny bit lower, or back to that sub-$200 lowest-seen price? Time will tell. Watch this space!
The Beats Solo 4 were released in May 2024 and the price-cut listed on Amazon marks a return to their lowest ever price on record. This model supports lossless audio that you can listen to via USB-C or 3.5mm audio cable, and Spatial Audio that uses head tracking to enhance your listening experience. These headphones also last up to 50 hours on a single charge and can regain five hours of playback time in just 10 minutes of charging. Not bad overall for the new budget price point, we think you'll agree…
The Bose QuietComfort headphones are the manufacturer's mid-range noise-cancelling cans and have dropped to a record-low price in this Black Friday deal. On top of the manufacturer's excellent ANC to block out unwanted noise, you get high-fidelity audio and an EQ control to customize bass, mid-range, and treble. The QuietComfort lasts up to 24 hours on one charge and can get back 2.5 hours of playtime in 15 minutes. At the time of writing, only the Cypress Green colorway is discounted, but we actually love that finish.
This is an incredible price for a pair of wireless on-ear headphones – on sale for just $24.95 at Amazon right now. The JBL Tune 510BT features Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 Streaming, so you can stream music and podcasts and take calls from your device, and you'll enjoy an impressive 40 hours of battery life. It's no t a model we've tested, but the JBL Tune 510BT have over 50,000 positive reviews on Amazon and are one of the best-selling headphones on the site. They also come with JBL's renowned Pure Bass sound. If you need something inexpensive and you need it now, it's hard to argue with this price tag…
They're not the best-sounding over-ears on the planet (it would be churlish to expect this, even at full price) but I love the comfort, build quality and colorways – and those unique teardrop-shape ear cups. For these prices, which are the lowest we've seen, their easily foldable design is great for your work bag…
This is a new lowest price for AirPods Pro 2, and is $15 cheaper than other stores today. Who knows whether it'll sell out quickly or not – but Walmart+ users get access to it now, while everyone else has to wait until 5pm ET. AirPods Pro 2 are amazing value for this price – they sound excellent, the noise cancellation is top tier, Dolby Atmos spatial audio is amazing for movies, and they even have an unlosable case, thanks to tech that literally points you to where it's hiding (and a speaker to help, too). They're also very small and light, so are great for comfort.
With fast pairing for iOS and Android devices, Beats Studio Pro are a great choice regardless of what ecosystem you are in. They last longer than some other over-ear headphones on the market, with up to 40 hours of playback. You can also quickly recharge them via the USB-C port for hours of listening in just minutes. Additionally, they have custom-designed drivers and support for Spatial Audio on Apple Music. You can pick from a range of colors, and Studio Pro offers a comfortable design with plenty of padding on the top band and earcups. Right now, you can score them for a massive 54% off on Amazon, which is as cheap as they've ever been – they've been up to 50% off in the past, but never this low!
Best Black Friday headphones deals, UK
- Amazon: up to 60% off Anker headphones
- Argos: JLab and Technics from just £19.99
- John Lewis: Sennheiser flagship cans now £179
- Very: huge Sennheiser over-ears deals
★★★★★ rating! The Momentum 4 Wireless headphones serve up a truly glorious sound that is among the best we’ve heard for the price. Their 60-hour battery life also has to be admired – most rival pairs simply don’t come close. This is the lowest price we've seen them for to date (they dropped to £199 recently at John Lewis, but Amazon has undercut that deal by over £19), so get a pair of flagship, five star headphones for a great price.
★★★★★ rating! Simply put, the XM5 are the best Sony's ever done with its flagship headphone technology. The older XM4 headphones were outstanding, the XM3 cans before it were excellent, and it'll come as little surprise to know that Sony's XM5 proposition is also incredibly hard to beat – especially with a whopping 35% off, which is just £6 off the cheapest they've ever been. They don't fold up like the XM4 but, as a quick glance at our Sony WH-100XM5 review proves, there's not much else to pick fault with.
★★★★★ rating! This discount is the lowest price we've ever seen for these superb Sony noise-cancelling headphones – by four whole pounds. You'd have to spend a lot more to get your hands on ANC over-ears that out-perform these Sony stunners. This is a return to the best price yet on what is truly a modern classic – and honestly, they may not be around for much longer. Highly recommended.
★★★★★ rating! We called these chic headphones 'incredible value' even at their original RRP, thanks to their excellent sound quality, solid ANC, novel voice prompts (select 'Southwark' and you get the incomparable Matt Berry telling you whether you've deployed noise cancelling) and a modular design that means you'll even be able to switch out the battery when the time comes. They made their debut on July 15, 2024 and honestly, they wowed the team. Highly recommended with this new 13% discount.
This discount is the biggest we've ever seen on these incredible headphones, now sold out at Amazon but live at Currys. They dropped to £329 in September of this year, but this 33% saving is a new lowest-seen price for Black Friday. With great sound quality, supreme comfort and unrivalled active noise cancellation, you're guaranteed a near-silent listening experience – Bose wrote the book on ANC, after all.
These high-comfort ANC headphones are now available for a massive 59% off the RRP, which is incredible given we already said they were 'punching above their weight' in our JBL Tune 770NC review, not long after their August 2023 release. The JBL Tune 770NC deliver very good audio out of the box, but they also have adjustable EQ so you can find the perfect sound for you. They also supply strong bass and impressive power, so they're perfect for high-volume listening. If you want solid ANC and sound quality rolled into one, these are an amazing-value option.
hese great-sounding, comfortable, spring 2023-release noise-cancelling headphones just returned to their lowest-seen price (a saving not seen since early September, to be precise). In our largely glowing four-star review of the WH-CH720, we loved the detail and balance of the audio, and though it feels a little restrained compared to higher-end headphones, that's no problem considering the price. One for the shortlist, for sure.
These give you noise cancellation that's as good as you can get for the price, and they're light and comfortable for long listening sessions. This isn't quite the cheapest they've been – they fell to £211 at one point – but this is the lowest they've been otherwise. They've been this current price consistency for a few weeks, so I have a suspicion they might drop to about £199 over Black Friday itself, but obviously no guarantees on that!
This massive saving on their February 2023 launch price is a the biggest discount yet on what we called "some of the best cheap headphones you can buy" – see our glowing Sony WH-CH520 review for clarification. They'd briefly dipped to just under £40 before today, in August, but this knocks that price clean out of the park, doesn't it? No ANC, but you do get up to 50 hours on a single charge. It's impossible to argue with that stamina for this money.
These comfortable, portable and effortlessly chic wireless planar magnetic headphones with aptX Adaptive, aptX HD and regular aptX are now cheaper than they've ever been and still some of my favourite cans out there. Edifier's proprietary planar magnetic technology, using 89mm x 70mm planar magnetic driver units, offers a frequency response of 20Hz~40KHz and some of the most accurate, crisp, meaningful sound reproduction of any of the best wireless headphones at the price. They were released in 2022 and have been superseded by the Stax Spirit S5 in 2024, but for me, the aesthetic here marginally edges it.
I adore the aesthetic of these headphones – and the sound is even better. They landed in the latter half of 2022 and I still think you'll struggle to find anything that gives you anywhere near the same sense of pride in ownership. Price has always been a stumbling block, but at £200 off (the cheapest they've ever been) B&W's flagship cans are extremely tempting…
Look, they're not the last word in sonic brilliance, but these likeable over-ears offer an awful lot for very little money, including a beautifully portable build with lovely teardrop-shaped ear cups, available in several chic colourways. I must say, I liked them even at full price – and I think for this money, they're a steal.
★★★★ rating! Bose's QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are now at their lowest-ever price yet for Black Friday in the UK too. The star here is Bose's all-new proprietary Immersive Audio feature for several head-tracked spatial audio profiles) and Snapdragon Sound certification. In short, these are the most advanced noise-cancelling Bose earbuds you can buy, now at their lowest-ever price in whichever colour you want – but we don't know how long it'll last!
For Costco members only. This is the lowest-ever price we've seen Apple's flagship earbuds.
For £159.99 you'll not find a better pair of earbuds, and if you're an iPhone owner, the benefits of the H2 chip allow you to seamlessly connect between your smartphone and all your other Apple devices. AirPods Pro are the staple for wireless earbuds for a reason, and you can experience them today and this steal of a price. Costco's site displays a £199 price, but you'll see that it says the £40 discount is applied at checkout.
★★★★★ rating! The latest Nothing Ear (a) Wireless Earbuds offer exceptional bass along with powerful active noise cancellation, so they’re immediately off to a good start. Their talented 11mm drivers are bigger than the norm and there’s 42.5 hours of battery life via the charging case, multi-point connectivity, and even ChatGPT support via the pinch stems if you're using a Nothing phone. This discount equals their lowest ever price… so, you know, that's very good indeed.
A £30 off saving (a 23% discount and the lowest they've ever been – albeit only by 58p) is a huge deal for Nothing's flagship earbuds. Here, you get to personalise your listening experience with Nothing's excellent Sound Personalisation mode, which is so good our reviewer wrote a dedicated feature on how it changed his approach to earbuds in general. This price also means you're getting flagship perks (including an excellent app, solid ANC and pinch-to-speak to Chat GPT from a Nothing Phone) for under £100. And that is, as far as we're concerned, unique.
I've reviewed over 150 audio products since becoming a tech journalist, ranging from super-budget earbuds to high-end Hi-Res Audio music players. Before joining TechRadar, I spent three years at What Hi-Fi? testing everything the world of audio had to offer; before that, I was a professional dancer. I've spent five years working on Black Friday headphones coverage, so between my experience of previous deals and of the headphones themselves, I know what's a real bargain.
Black Friday headphones deals: FAQs
When will the Black Friday headphones deals start in 2024?
Now – they're piling up! Why? Because Black Friday proper is November 29th, and that day has come to pass!
Also, your TechRadar team's been in this game a while and we are not easily fooled: 'Black Friday' branded deals may start in late October, but we'll tell you which are actually worth your consideration and which to steer clear of, because a better offer is likely to come later – though the promises that some retailers offer of refunded any price difference can help.
Amazon actually held a 'Big Deals Day' sale in October of this year, which was basically a second Amazon Prime Day. Several retailers launched sales in thinly-veiled retaliation, so we're in a heightened 'deals season' right now and will be until the new year. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for choice headphones deals right here on this page.
Is Black Friday the best time to buy headphones?
We can't promise you there's no better time to buy headphones, but we almost can… Black Friday is without a doubt the biggest sale of the year. And you don't need to take our word for it; Adobe Analytics data shows the biggest discounts on electronics happened during the peak of last year's Black Friday sales.
So, if you've been considering an upgrade to your current cans or want to snag yourself a brand-new commuter set (or something for the gym?), you'll likely find some of the lowest prices ever on headphones during Black Friday. Discounts have been especially aggressive this year, given how the market has struggled to find a new icon following Sony's excellent – but let's be honest, getting older – WH-1000XM4 over-ears, alongside the release of some excellent (if a little more niche) planar magnetic sets and of course, Apple's addition of USB-C ports to its AirPods Max… we've tested them all here at TechRadar, so we'll only offer you the best deals we see.
What Black Friday headphones deals should you look out for in 2024?
We thought AirPods Max would be huge this Black Friday, but it hasn't happened yet… Don't mind a Lightning port? The Cupertino giant updated it's inaugural Apple-branded over-ears to use USB-C in September, which means you may well still see big discounts on the older stock.
Elsewhere, we've seen new lowest-ever prices on Sony's WH-1000XM5, Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones and Sonos' June 2024-issue headphones, the Sonos Ace. As always, we'll be working around the clock and when we see the prices drop, you'll be the first to know.
Why trust TechRadar this Black Friday
As your friendly Audio Editor and writer of this piece, I've covered Black Friday for five years, first as Staff Writer at What Hi-Fi?, then as Senior Staff Writer and finally Audio Editor on TechRadar. I was on the inaugural Black Friday deals team in 2019 on TechRadar's sister publication above. And I see how far we've come.
Today in 2024, I regularly hunt down some of the best prices on headphones and earbuds, not just during sales events but throughout the year. We also have dedicated deals teams in the US and the UK and (it's impossible to write this with humility) we know what we're doing: we emphatically know a bargain when we see it.
I'm also leaning on the expertise of the wider TechRadar team and we've got decades of experience between us – TechRadar itself is over 16 years old. We've spent more time than I'd care to calculate testing and reviewing all of the latest noise-cancelling headphones, planar magnetic over-ears, sports focused earbuds and more. We've reviewed more than 2,400 audio reviews in total, in fact. We know the options that are worth spending money on. Those are the Black Friday headphones deals I'll focus on here. My goal? To get you something that matches both your priorities and your budget.
