It might now be early January 2024, but there's still time to pick up a discount in Australia's annual Boxing Day sales. Retailers such as The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi and even Amazon all have deals carrying on into the New Year, though you might not have much time left to pick up deals on TVs, phones, laptops, cameras, smart home devices and more as the sales start to come to an official close.
So what were the highlights? Well, during the height of the sale, the Xbox Series X with Diablo IV hit a discounted price of AU$659. That deal has since finished, but you can still nab the Xbox Series X bundle for a little more at AU$699.
There's stacks of savings available for non-gamers still running too – a range of Dyson vacuums are on sale, or you can pick up some smart plugs from just AU$15. That's just the beginning though, as we've found 30+ deals you can shop right now.

Xbox Series X|S controller | AU$89.95 from AU$66 on Amazon (save up to AU$23.95)
This Xbox controller almost always gets a discount during major sales, but different colours tend to be priced differently. This time around, the black colour option is available for AU$66. While not the lowest price – that was AU$52.50 for the red controller back in May – it could still be a good time to pick up an extra gamepad or two for a reasonable price.
LG 75-inch QNED75 QNED TV | AU$2,499 AU$1,632 at Appliance Central (save AU$867)
Looking for a large-screen TV? Then consider this 75-inch from LG. While it had over AU$800 off during Black Friday sales recently, this AU$867 discount is still a decent offer post the Boxing Day sales. It makes the LG QNED75 one of the more affordable alternatives to LG's OLED line.
TCL 65-inch C845 Mini-LED TV | AU$1,999 AU$1,585 at Appliance Central (save AU$414)

Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar | AU$1,099 AU$599 at Garmin (save AU$500)
Our Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar review rated this watch a full five stars. We love the design and layout of the watch, and it’s full to the brim with features. There’s been big health and GPS tracking improvements, with tracking across several different satellite systems. This Garmin watch promises up to 20 days of battery life, and it has a solar charging battery. Note that this price is only available to members, but it’s free to sign up.
Garmin Epix (Gen 2, Sapphire) | AU$1,699 from AU$848 at JB Hi-Fi (save AU$851)
One of the most advanced multi-sport watches around, we gave it 4.5 stars in our Garmin Epix (Gen 2) review for good reason. Practically perfect GPS and maps, very advanced fitness tracking, plenty of metrics and a stunning AMOLED display. It all costs a pretty penny though, so when you can snap it up for under a grand, we'd say it's a good bargain.
Canon EOS R50 + RF-S 18-45mm lens | AU$1,249 AU$1,049 at CameraPro (save AU$200 after cashback)
This might not seem like a big discount on this 24.2MP APS-C speedster, but the Canon R50 has an RRP of AU$1,399 elsewhere, so the ticket price at CameraPro is, in itself, low. 4K/30p video oversampled from 6K footage, excellent autofocus capabilities for video and stills, plus bursts of up to 15fps. All in a compact, lightweight body. That's good value for money for an entry-level camera.
Canon EOS R100 + RF18-45mm lens | AU$1,099 AU$809 on Amazon (save AU$290)
The Canon EOS R100 has only been available since May this year, and it's Canon's most affordable RF-mount camera. It's a beginner's camera with a 24MP APS-C sensor, and while that sensor has been around for while now, you'll still be getting Canon's fantastic image quality on a budget. It can shoot 4K video up to 25fps, but it is cropped.
Canon EOS R6 Mark II (body) | AU$3,999 AU$3,099 on Amazon (save AU$900)
Our Canon EOS R6 II review gave this camera 4/5 stars, so it's a great mid-range full-framer, with the best of Canon's autofocus capabilities, high speed bursts and 4K video. It also gets a bump in sensor resolution from the original R6, now featuring a 24.4MP full-frame sensor. While Amazon is listing this camera's RRP as AU$4,499, we've typically found it selling for AU$3,999 at other camera retailers, so that's what we've listed here as the RRP.
Dyson Gen5detect Absolute | AU$1,299 AU$994 at The Good Guys (save AU$305)
The Dyson Gen5Detect is one of Dyson't most powerful vacuums yet. Having left the V-series name behind along with the old trigger mechanism, and opting for a push button to start, the Gen5detect is a bit heavier than some of Dyson's other vacuums, but it does come with up to 70 minutes of runtime thanks to an improved battery.
Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute | AU$1,299 AU$697 on Dyson eBay (save AU$602)
Score this vacuum directly from Dyson for AU$697. While it's not as big a discount as we saw on Boxing Day, where this vacuum came down to AU$679 at Dyson's eBay store, it's still a sweet AU$602 discount on a powerful cordless vacuum.
TP-Link Tapo RV10 Plus | AU$599 AU$315 on Amazon (save AU$284)
If you want a self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner that won't clean out your bank balance, consider the Tapo RV10 Plus. It's not as powerful as the flagship Tapo RV30 Plus, but it's still pretty decent for its price. It will automatically boost suction when it senses a carpet, and it can mop too.
Ecovacs X1 Omni | AU$2,499 AU$1,497 at Amazon (save AU$549)
Ecovacs has a big range of robot vacuums to suit just about any budget, and if you're looking for a premium model, this deal on the Ecovacs X1 Omni won't disappoint. Coming along with the Auto Clean and Auto Empty station where the little robot vacuum will dump its waste and refresh it's water, this smart little vacuum will save you a load of work – at least until the station itself needs to be cleaned out.
Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus | AU$1,799 AU$899 at Amazon (save AU$900)
If you want more from your robot vacuum – like... an air freshener – then the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus is the model you'll want o go with. It'll set you back AU$1,019 with this discount on Amazon, and along with the ability to spritz some fresh scents into the air, it still performs the humble duties of a typical Ecovacs Deebot vacuum, mopping and vacuuming you floors to keep them dust free and spotless. While this is still a nice saving of AU$780, it did creep down to AU$899 back during Amazon's Boxing Day sale.
Ecovacs Deebot N10 | AU$799 AU$499 at Amazon (save AU$300)
Coming in at AU$499, the Ecovacs Deetbot N10 will make its way around your home and pick up any specks of dirt and dust with ease. It included multi-floor mapping and up to 300 minutes of runtime and can even mop your hard floors.
Ecovacs Deebot N8 Plus | AU$1,099 AU$549 on Amazon (save AU$550)
If you want a robot that can vacuum, mop and auto-empty at a cheaper price point, we think the Ecovacs Deebot N8 is a good option and it's now down to the lowest price we've seen. This robovac’s auto-empty station is on the smaller side with a capacity of 2.5L, but Ecovacs says that can last you up to 60 days (depending on how dusty your home gets). To get this full discount, you'll need to tick the coupon directly on the listing before proceeding to checkout.
Breville The Infuser (BES840) | AU$899 AU$399 on Amazon (save AU$500)
While Amazon's listed RRP on this slimline espresso machine is a little inflated (you can usually find it for AU$529), the discount here is still a compelling one, and even matches the Black Friday price of AU$399. If you want a manual coffee machine that does shots and milk, this one won't take up much space and is a popular cheaper option.

Cocktails, anyone?
Ninja Air Fryer Max AF160 | AU$349 AU$128 at The Good Guys (save AU$221)
A massive discount of AU$221 makes this an excellent air fryer deal from The Good Guys. With a 5.2L capacity, you'll be able to feed the family easily, plus there are 8 heat settings here to choose from. There's no manual controls here though, but it's still a pretty good air fryer, now going really cheap.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next pod coffee machine is one of our favourites. It uses Nespresso's own Vertuo pods (which you can only get from Nespresso) and intelligently and automatically extracts the perfect amount of water thanks to proprietary Centrifusion technology. Boxing Day sales 2023: key information
When do Boxing Day sales start in 2023?
Officially, Boxing Day is the very next day after Christmas on December 26. Following the festive season, a bunch of retailers offer up solid discounts to make way for new stock arriving in the new year. It was once a single day shopping experience, ending at midnight on December 26, but that’s changed in the last few years.
More and more retailers are kicking off their Boxing Day sales earlier in December, meaning you can shop these offers leading up to and on Christmas Day if you really want to. Similarly, the deals often run past Boxing Day towards the new year, but you might miss a bargain if you wait too long as stock could sell out earlier in the sale.
We recommend keeping an eye on the Boxing Day sales from December 18 if you’re keen to snatch a bargain, so long as it doesn’t interrupt your festive celebrations. The Boxing Day sales are a little too late for a last minute Christmas gift, but are one last chance to nab a bargain before the year’s end.
When do the Boxing Day sales end and January sales begin?
The distinction between Boxing Day sales and January sales are a bit blurred – some retailers switch Boxing Day over to January sales once December 27 arrives, while others will run Boxing Day offers right up until the new year.
It’s still a good plan to get in early for the retailers you want to shop from, as well as the products you want to score – once stock has run out it might not be available again in the January sales.
What is Boxing Day in Australia?
Originating from the 1980s, Boxing Day sales has been a long running tradition in Australia for over 40 years. Before online shopping, customers would wake up early to get in store and snatch up the best deals on December 26 before they ran out.
Brick and mortar stores such as David Jones and Myer were often packed during Boxing Day, but since the inception of online shopping, you no longer have to brave the crowds to get a good deal on the day.
You’ll still want to get in early if you want to make sure you get the deal you desire – stock could be extremely limited or you might only have a short time to snatch a bargain in flash sales. Though we recommend planning ahead by creating a shopping list of most wanted items and what price you’re willing to pay to avoid buyer’s remorse from a spontaneous purchase.
Some sellers won’t do store wide discounts, often opting to highlight selected products in the Boxing Day sales. But anything and everything is prime for a bargain – so keep your eyes peeled on what you want, you could grab it for a fantastic price come December 26.
Is it better to shop during Black Friday or Boxing Day?
There’s a few things to consider when comparing Black Friday and Boxing Day – firstly, are you hoping to grab a Christmas present on sale? If so, Black Friday is by far the better day to shop, as you definitely won’t get your Boxing Day purchase before Christmas, and it might not even arrive until the new year.
Secondly, it can depend on what you’re looking for, though this has changed a lot in the previous few years. Boxing Day was traditionally a great shopping event for fashion and homewares, whereas Black Friday was the best time for tech, particularly new TVs, headphones and smartwatches – this is now no longer the case.
Now you can often find big tech discounts on Boxing Day as well. Whether you’re holding out for a saving on Apple iPhones, Microsoft Surface laptops, LG OLED TVs, Sony headphones or anything from big brands, Boxing Day could deliver some of the biggest savings to close out the year.
Boxing Day sales 2023: our predictions
With the new year on the horizon, Boxing Day is a great chance for retailers to clear out older stock – which means it’s a fantastic time for shoppers to find a bargain. You might not see offers on newly released products like we did during Black Friday, but don’t look past the offers that might pop up on December 26 – some of these will likely be on products that still appear in lists like the best TVs, best phones and best headphones.
TV deals
If you’ve been holding out for a deal on a new TV, the Boxing Day and January sales are a great chance to save on one. Bing Lee, The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi are the top retailers you’ll want to keep an eye on for a TV deal though other sites like eBay, Appliance Central and Appliance Online will likely offer up some discounts as well. Meanwhile, you’re not likely to find a good TV deal on Amazon, though you could find one of the best soundbars on sale there if you’re after one of those instead.
Typically, the TV deals on Boxing Day have been best on the latest releases the year prior, so you can generally find OLED and QLED displays snatching up big discounts. But if you’re not keen on spending the big bucks, the deals tend to go down the range to some mid-range and budget models as well – so there’s likely to be a TV for any need or budget, but we won’t know exactly what’s on offer until Boxing Day is here.
Don’t worry gamers – you’re likely to be well catered to as well. Whether you own a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, you’re likely going to find a deal for a TV to game on. If trends follow previous years, we could even see our favourite TV, the Samsung S90C QD-OLED TV on sale.
Computing and laptop deals
Boxing Day might not have the reputation Black Friday or EOFY sales do for discounts on laptops, but we still expect to see a few pop up in this sale. Lenovo, Dell, HP and Microsoft are all in prime position to offer laptops directly from the source on December 26, though third-party sellers like JB Hi-Fi, Mwave and The Good Guys might slash the price on different models, including Chromebooks, gaming laptops and even 2-in-1s.
In the years leading up to 2023, there was a massive chip shortage that caused some delays and limits on available stock, though in Australia laptops were basically unaffected, and we fully expect there to be plenty of laptops available when Boxing Day rolls around this time.
Headphones, tablets and phones
Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2023 offered up a stack of headphones, from some of the best wireless earbuds like the Apple AirPods Pro 2 and Bose QuietComfort 2, to chunky noise cancelling cans including the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, and it’s pretty likely headphones of all sorts will get the Boxing Day sale treatment as well.
Tablets were a bit of an enigma in the November sales – a few ereaders, including what we think is the best ereader currently available, the Kobo Libra 2, nabbed some decent savings, and a few of Apple’s iPads also came down in price. However, we didn’t see any spectacular deals on any Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and we’re not really expecting much during Boxing Day either – we think these are more likely to come on sale during the back to school season.
As for smartphones, we’re not likely going to see iPhones get huge discounts, especially the iPhone 15, but we could see some other handsets coming down in price, especially if Black Friday was any indicator. Watch out for Google Pixels, both the most recent and older models, as well as handsets from Samsung and Motorola. Older foldable phones are prime for a discount, especially from sellers on eBay, though we are unlikely to see any offers on the latest ones.
Health and fitness
New year, new resolutions – and if your health and fitness are the main concern in the new year, Boxing Day and January sales could be a good chance to nab some tech to support these goals. Retailers know January is the time when a lot of people kick off a new fitness journey and take this opportunity to cash in by offering up some big bargains on smartwatches and fitness trackers.
Last year, the Fitbit Versa 4 nabbed a decent discount from Myer, while the Garmin Fenix 6S dropped to under AU$500 from Amazon. We expect both Garmin and Fitbit to come on sale across a range of sellers, so it might be worth shopping around during the sales to ensure you get the best discount.
There was a big variety of smartwatches on sale back during Black Friday – we saw the Apple Watch SE, Google Pixel Watch 2 and even what we think is the current best smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, all come down in price throughout the November sales. There’s no guarantee these watches will also go on sale during the Boxing Day sales, but we definitely wouldn’t rule out the possibility of any repeated deals from the Black Friday sales.
How do I get the best deals during Boxing Day sales?
With sales like Boxing Day, it’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed with the large volume of deals on offer. To avoid spontaneous shopping we recommend planning ahead – whether it’s picking out the items you want to score ahead of time, or making sure you get in early if you want to shop in store, a plan will help you save both time and money during the sale.
Once you know your budget, try and stick to it – if your desired item doesn’t come down in price and you can wait a little longer, you might find the January sales or other early 2024 sales deliver the discount you’re seeking. With the cost of living looming over every dollar spent, knowing what you’re able and willing to spend ahead of time will help you avoid the dreaded buyer’s remorse.
On the flipside, if you’re wanting to stock up for back to school, Boxing Day could be a good opportunity for that, though you’ll get more chances to save throughout January as well – which could give you a bit of budgeting buffering especially after Christmas.
Boxing Day sales: best deals from last year
Xbox Series S | AU$499 AU$399 on Amazon (AU$100 off)
This offering on the Xbox Series S was a standout during the 2022 Boxing Day sales, and we haven’t really seen the console score many discounts throughout the entirety of 2023. Instead, it’s more powerful sibling, the Xbox Series X has been the main focus, but we wouldn’t rule out a Boxing Day saving on this one just yet – and hopefully it’s even bigger and better than what we got in 2022.
Xbox Series X/S wireless controller | AU$89.95 AU$69 on Amazon (AU$20.95 off)
At the time of this deal last Boxing Day, AU$69 was the lowest price that the Xbox Series X/S wireless controller had been on Amazon. It was available in a range of colours, and we wouldn’t be surprised if a deal like this returns on December 26. We have since seen the black and white options of the controller drop to AU$56.95 – so we’re hoping for a price below at least AU$69 this Boxing Day.
Nintendo Switch OLED (Pokémon Scarlet/Violet version) | AU$549 AU$370.30 on Big W eBay (AU$178.70 off)
There were plenty of gaming deals available during Boxing Day 2022, and another highlight was this discount on the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet version of the Nintendo Switch OLED. It was down to AU$370, but the catch was you had to be an eBay Plus member. There was also only a limited number of Switch OLED consoles available, and they did sell out on the day.
Razer DeathAdder V2 | AU$139.95 AU$34 on Amazon (AU$105.95 off)
The Razer DeathAdder V2 gaming mouse scored a massive saving of 76% off during Boxing Day 2022. While this mouse has been succeeded by the DeathAdder V3, the Razer DeathAdder V2 is still a solid multipurpose mouse, and we’ll be hoping to see more huge discounts on PC peripherals on Boxing Day 2023.
LG 55-inch C2 OLED TV | AU$3,195 AU$2,290 on Appliance Central (AU$905 off)
This was our favourite TV of 2022, and while it might have been knocked off the pedestal since last Boxing Day, the LG C2 OLED is still a fantastic TV for any home who has the budget for it. Now that the C3 is here, we’re expecting to see discounts on the newer model, but if any retailers still have the C2 in stock, you could possibly find a fantastic deal to run away with on the older TV as well.
Ecovacs Deebot N8 Plus | AU$1,499 AU$699 on Amazon (AU$800 off)
The Ecovacs Deebot N8 Plus was AU$699 on Boxing Day 2022, which was not only the same as its Black Friday price, but was also the lowest price we had seen at the time. Since then, this robot vacuum has been as low as AU$629 on Amazon, so we’re hoping for another incredible deal this Boxing Day.
